I think that DS would love it, but I can't quite decide.

It looks like a lot of fun to me.

I bought it for my DD when she was 2. She's now 3.5yrs and still plays with it daily. 20 month old DS loves it too. It's very sturdy and has stood up to a lot. It comes with extendable feet to make it the right height.

I suppose I worry that he's too old for it, but I don't think he is really. There are lots of fab accessories to go with it too.

I don't think it's a question of age, as such. More, what is your child like? We got the Ikea kitchen for DD1 when she was twoish. She has never really played with it much but luckily her younger sister (19 months) seems more interested....so I can see it being used more in the future. Lots of kids who come and play like it though!!

I still think out of all the the kitchen sets available, it is a good buy. It looks nice and neutral, not garish, and is quite realistic. Plus it's a good size - not too bulky but big enough. Furthermore, you should be able to sell it on afterwards if it is kept in good condition.

Ds3 is 3 in March and he is getting a kitchen. Sadly DH has said ikea one Is too expensive Sad we are still getting a kitchen though but sadly it will be a plastic garish one.

anne - they've knocked the price down a bit preChristmas so may be worth a secondd look

Dd got hers at 2.5 and a year later, still plays with it every day. DS who is one also bashes around with it. One if the best buys ever, sturdy and looks good tooSmile

Yes. My DTDs, now 4, loved their kitchen last year and always spent ages playing with the ikea one when we visited a play place nearby that had one. We didn't buy that one only because, with twins, we went for a double sided one for easier sharing. Otherwise I would have got it. I also really recommend their saucepans, utensils, 'glasses' etc. It is height adjustable btw.

We bought a kitchen (not ikea as they didn't do them then) for ds when he was 2. He is now 7 and it is still out and played with (perhaps not in the same way ...). Every visiting child gravitates to it and always has. I love the Ikea one even more. Its a fantastic present for any child, girl or boy. Go for it!

ive got it for DD for this christmas and she will be two. Hope to god they dont outgrow them at three as it.cost too much for tgat!

We bought it for DD2's first birthday. DD2 is now 4.5 and she and DD1 still play with the kitchen every day. It's the best toy we have. Only duplo has had similar longevity.

I've bought the Ikea kitchen as a shared Christmas present for my DDs aged 2.5 and 4. They are both into role play so I'm confident they'll love it. I don't think it's a question of age as such, more of what they enjoy playing with. Does your DS like pretend play?

UnicornsPooGlitter · 26/11/2013 21:35

Oh, this all sounds encouraging Smile It's a lovely kitchen, I think DS would really enjoy playing with it. He's pretty imaginative, and loves playing with his tea set, and 'baking cakes'.
