Nice foody bits for my dad but NOT requiring cooking?

Thinking of just putting together some nice treats for my dad. He is now living alone and despite being a very keen cook in the past is not interested at the moment and won't be getting his oven for a while yet. :( So I'd like to get yummy things that he can eat simply, that don't need to be cooked or used in a fancy meal - so this rules out stuff like flavoured oils, spices etc even though they would have gone down well in the past.

So far I'm thinking of getting some nice spreads/chutneys from a local restaurant - they have things like fig jam and posh lemon curd.

A little panettone or stollen would go down well though as I don't eat either I have no idea where to get them.

Toffees are out due to teeth issues but I'll get 3 of the fancy flavoured chocolate slabs from thorntons (think Bakewell tart, pistachio etc)

No idea what else to look for though, we have very different taste! Preferably non perishable, non-fridge stuff.

Any ideas please? Thanks

Has he got any cooking facilities, eg hotplate or microwave?

I can personally vouch for Lidl's mini stollen. The logic in me says mini ones are nice as you can have a bit to 2 every now and then, rather than 1 person hacking into a giant one. But they were so nice, that I troughed a whole pack in 2 sittings; I gave not a single one away Blush.

They also had things like naice pates - 6 mini ish ones in a pack, anchovy fillets in a jar, that kind of thing.

But if he can heat stuff through, then naice soup ?

(sorry, meant to say - the pates, the fillets, the soup were all ambient - not in chiller)

What about jars/packs of marinaded things like artichoke hearts, stuffed sweet peppers/peppadew, pickled garlic, dry-cured salamis and sausages.
