Stupid secret Santa. Ideas?ud

I have to find a secret Santa present for work. Supposed to 'be a bit of fun, not boring soap or chocolates' (so I was told by the bossy woman organising it).

Any ideas? I know the staff room will be full of jolly chocolate willies, but it's not really me!

I don't know the recipient really. Nice lady, mid 40s.

Budget for gift?

HuevosRancheros · 21/11/2013 18:30

Do you have any ideas of interests?
I got one from someone who I didn't think knew me, it was a bird feeder, quite cheap, but it worked, I was thrilled.... and still use it!

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 21/11/2013 18:44

£5 (ish) budget. A bird feeder is nice. Her surname is bird-related.

Beautiful or quirky tea towel?

AuditAngel · 23/11/2013 23:56

For £5 you could get a nice Christmas decoration.

Not on the high street have some. I prefer our local garden centre.

Leeds2 · 23/11/2013 23:59

A calendar or diary.

I got a candle in a lovely Christmassy sparkly red cover for the last one I did. I bought a Cath Kidston mug in a tin box from our garden centre for the lady I had to buy for.

Lego figure key ring, they are four pounds and there are loads of different ones to chose from so there should be one she might like .

snice · 24/11/2013 00:10

a cookbook? Amazon have lots on offer eg delia's cakes

clary · 24/11/2013 00:16

OK I'm a nice lady (! not really) late 40s and I would like:

fancy cookie cutters
nice Christmas tree decoration
fancy tights (eg those ones with the fake seam etc)
Something fancy from Lush eg bath bubbler like a macaroon etc
A nice Christmas wreath (?possible for £5??)
A book but that's not very fun!

ineedanexcuse · 24/11/2013 00:23

I got a tree decoration one year and was very Hmm about it as I had spent a lot of time sourcing the right thing for my recipient.it was a very nice ,huge ,bauble and probably cost more than the prescribed amount but still,a decoration. Sad

My favourite office thing is a china mug and saucer which is admired by colleagues .But that might be more than a fiver.
My next desk neighbour has a micro wheely bin which is even more admired. That was only £1.00. Filled with sweets or biscuits it would fit the bill perhaps?

Charity donation. Pick a charity they'd like.

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 24/11/2013 08:11

Lego key ring might be good. Where do I find them?

Thanks for your lovely ideas everyone. I'm a bit hung up on the 'bit of fun' bit I suppose! Some good ideas for teacher presents here too.

I like the Christmas decoration idea, they have some nice ones at dotcomgiftshop for £5 (plus postage though).

clary · 24/11/2013 18:14

Lego keyring from Lego. com search-en.lego.com/?q=keyring&cc=UKhere

Judyandherdreamofhorses · 24/11/2013 19:23

Thanks. I'll listen out next week to find out a few more of her interests, then pick an appropriate lego key ring.
