Christmas Dinner Table Games

Hi all, looking for some suggestions for games at the table after dinner - nothing along the Trival Pursuit line, just silly games that will suit age range from 5 to 65. Last year we did the face/After Eight one - any suggestions for something similar?

We like racing wind-up toys down the table. Supermarkets usually have racing rudolph or racing sprout crackers. or buy a handful of clockwork bugs from Hawkins bazaar as table gifts.

What's face/after eight btw?

Cheers Chippy, the kids would love that!

Face/After Eight - tip head back, put an aftereight on your forehead and try to guide into gob using face muscles only - simple, but brilliant fun. Most people end up with a trail of chocolate down their visage...

we play a game with dice and a bag of small wrapped presents (usually chocolate).

Depending on the number you roll you get the chance to pick a wrapped present from the bag but you can't open it; that relies on rolling the right number on your next turn.

Some numbers you roll you have to pass the present (wrapped or unwrapped) to the left/right or 2 spaces right/2 spaces left or everyone has to give you their presents or unwrap the present

When the presents are unwrapped it becomes really funny as people get possessive about their fav chocs. After an agreed time you get to keep the chocolate or chocolates you have won in front of you (being xmas you give the spare ones to the those with none)

This game really works with everyone as I would have carefully chosen the chocs to appeal to different people e.g. I got a mars bar for my dad. my niece last year whose 4 was intranced by the game and has asked for it to be played again this year.

Goes down well with everyone -just make you write the rules/nos down esp if you are drinking.

We usually get crackers that involve some kind of activity.

We've had wind up reindeer races, balloon modelling competition, tin whistle symphony etc. Thinking about origami for this year as I reckon the dcs are old enough to have a go.

How the hell do you play your After Eight game if you've had Botox??? Grin

The Junior version of Pass the Bomb is great - it's just a card with a setting e.g The Beach and you have to name something you would find there but all the time you are passing around a ticking bomb! Sounds boring but sometimes the youngest children are the best at it.

Who Am I? With the post-it note on your head with a well known person, you can ask questions that have a yes/no answer - we did characters from fairy tales last year as DD was just under four so getting the hang of it.

these are also really good - a few years ago I found ones that are conversation starters, I can't tell you how many times they have come out at dinner parties etc - we also have the Charades but having just googled them for this thread, I may buy some others.

We really like pass the pigs. You just throw them and score according to how they land.
