Presents for Dads costing £1-£1.50 each

Our PTA runs a Secret present room at the Christmas fair so the children can buy a gift for their parents. Presents for mums are fairly easy but I'm a bit stumped for what we can get for the dads whcih. We need 3-4 choices and they need to cost no more than £1.50 each. Any ideas?!

thank you Allalonenow. I tend to feel guilty a lot as I was/am a working mother and as they are only 13 months apart I feel guilty that the eldest didn't really have much chance to be a baby etc etc but I guess that is the nature of being a parent.

I do however love them to distraction and they are very good boys and make me so proud. We must have done something right along the way.

Great idea for a fundraiser! How about...

Kenco Millicano (naice version of instant coffee) currently on offer at 99p for 10 sticks at Tesco

Poundland has some clip on book lights that work with Kindle/Nook/Kobo plus regular paperbacks

it's only years later that you realise that all the small stuff that happens in life is actually the big stuff that you remember and treasure forever

soontobeslendergirl - this nearly had me in tears. So true.

Coopers of stortford had some mini torch keyrings www.coopersofstortford.co.uk/coopers-of-stortford-10x-super-bright-led-torches-prodst09286i/ which are £6.99 for 10. You need to add postage on which looks like £4.95, this would still be under the price for one pack, but if you got enough packs the postage would be shared further.

We did this last year and asked parents to donate new or nearly new items that were surplus (eg unwanted gifts, books only read once etc, b1g1f etc). That also worked well.

Oh, SoonToBe your boys sound totally adorable. I bet you looked amazing. Smile

Some things on Amazon starting at 50p, keyring light for example

SunshineAndPeardrops · 20/11/2013 10:32

Poundland had some calendars that would be suitable for dads.

DS' school does this too. Except that the budget is £1. There are lots of things at The Works, as well as the usual shops like Poundland and the 99p shop.

There are:

1 page a day diaries - 99p in The Works plus 10% off in store if you spend £10+
Crossword books - as above
Su doku books - as above
Money box that says "in case of emergency break glass" - as above
Dominoes in a wooden box - these are 2 for £1 in the Works plus 10% off
Wilkos and the £1 shops always go a decent selection of Cadbury's After Eights etc for £1 at this time of year
Radox shower gel is down to £1 in Sainsbury's this week I think
Lynx is also £1 in Poundland
Loads of mugs for £1 each in the £1 shops
Also socks

The £1 shops are your friends. You may be super lucky and get a hat or scarf!

Look in the computer/tech section at Poundland too, you can buy mouse mats, packets of screen wipes for phones/tablets/laptops, spare chargers for phones, car chargers.

Our school do something similar, packs of cards, puzzle books, small tins/boxes of chocolates or biscuits, key rings, magnets, mugs (all with best dad type slogans on them). Good idea about going to the pound shop and then adding on a little bit as the profit.
