Help me out please! Want a 'device' for dd, but no idea what

I have a budget of approx £150. I want something that dd can use to do her homework - so would like Windows/Office - and browse the net, so needs to handle youtube lol! It doesn't have to be superwizzy in any way, just able to fulfill those two functions.

Does such a device exist for that money? Would it be a laptop/netbook/tablet/kindle-type thingy?

Advice and links most welcome Smile

For homework, I'd probably go for a laptop. Not sure you'd be able to get brand new one for £150, but definitely a decent second hand one.

You might struggle getting a windows/office ready device for £150.

Second hand netbook might be manageable. Tablet wise, you'd be wanting one of the higher end ones, ipad, Samsung Note etc, which is way above your budget.

I got dd1 a perfectly reasonable Samsung Chrome book, ex display model, from here last year for £170.

Thank you for your replies Smile. I was being too optimistic for my budget then?
Second-hand is fine actually, as long as it is from somewhere reputable Smile. Does the Chrome book use Windows D0oin?

Yes, but most machines no longer come with Office as standard, you have to buy that or you can download Open Office for free, which is very similar.

Have a look here you'd get a desktop within budget and even a laptop depending on your circumstances.
