Present for nan & grandad that don't want anything!

My grandparents are in their 80's... They don't like getting clothes.

I always used to buy them books / DVDs but this year they have their entire collections away because they 'don't read them or watch them.'

They don't drink. They are mostly housebound.

I am stuck!

I thought I had everything but these are my last 2!

What's you budget? Some photo gifts are nice - my mother in law loved her cushion with a pic of our girls on. Hot wheat bag are great for aches and pains. Lap trays with the beany bag undersides? A run out in a vintage car or a steam train? Or some bondage gear. ;)

Stuff healthy living, I'm getting my parents (who are same age as your grandparents) booze and fattening food. They've both had cancer ( mum not yet confirmed) and calories and a little gin sozzled haze is probably what they need!

Photo gifts go down a storm with gps here. I've done a photo calendar and an up to date family photo for the mantelpiece too. In the past I've done mugs as well. Also posh biscuits, tea, nibbly bits. And my Nan loves nice hand cream too.

this might sound daft, and I don't mean to be rude but are they comfortably off? can they afford their heating and eating bills OK? given the awful winter we are forecast (assuming you are in the UK), I want to send my nan something towards her heating bill - along with the usual school photos of the DC and box of chocs. Even if they have no money worries I bet there are things they don't buy themselves because they are expensive - posh marmalade, cake, cheese for a hamper.

Thanks to this thread and 3bunnies book suggestion I have solved this year's dilemma of what to give my awkward, reclusive but rich (so orders naice foods as and when she fancies them) great aunt.

I've also decided to make a photo calendar for her birthday, but full of photos from the area she grew up (different from the area covered in the book I bought her) instead of photos of our DC, who she politely feigns an interest in, but probably doesn't want staring back at her from her kitchen wall.

I made my nan a hamper last year of lots of her favourite 'treat' foods that she'd never buy herself, as she always worries about money Went down lovely though

Buy a hamper of luxury items, include some books of stamps, maybe a subscription for the senior citizen magazine 'yours' ? ( I like reading that before passing on to DM !)
Maybe offer to do their garden once on a while? Or the washing/ironing?

Those who are on a tight budget like me could try making festive bird feeders to hang on the tree in the garden, my gps love watching the birds. I'm using yogurt pots as moulds then turning them upside down to look like bells with Christmassy ribbon. The feeder is just suet and bird seed.

Would they appreciate a big bunch of flowers? My grandmother is in a home and so doesn't have much space for 'stuff' and gets all her meals there. But she loves to get flowers to brighten up her room. And photos of the kids / drawings by them, which she keeps in a big scrapbook that my aunt got her.
