So what do you do when your DC have asked for the impossible from FC?

DD (6) has asked for a One Direction computer from FC for Christmas. I have no idea what she means, any ideas? We have a Galaxy Tab that she plays with rarely, so all I can think of is to get a "skin" for that. It's the only thing she's asked for and apparently FC and his Elves will be able to make one. Confused

So what do you do when they've asked for the impossible? I think I remember DM writing us little notes from FC when she and Dad simply couldn't get, or afford to get, what we wanted. We don't have huge budgets and are simplifying a lot this year - one main FC present, a book, and 1 or two other small items for the stocking. She loves drawing and writing but we're stuffed with notebooks, pens and assorted paraphernalia. I was thinking a JL sewing machine as she's had a number of craft kits which she enjoys but I always find them a bit pointless as you can only make one specified item. Any thoughts?

Last year DS asked Santa for a time machine Hmm

Santa wrote back explaining that they haven't been invented yet, but left lots of science related gifts, saying that maybe DS himself could invent one. So far he hasn't but I live in hope!

My friends dd has asked for a baby doll that smells of chocolate and has horns- apparently her brothers friends sister has one that she got on holiday in Spain Shock my friend cannot find this doll anywhere! Santa is set tricky tasks sometimes!

My dd asked for immortality last year. I think we just said that there was a limit to FC powers and that although she could ask he would have the ultimate decision on anything. After all it is supposed to be something he chooses and it would be a bit rude if one of her friends demanded that she gives her X for her birthday as a gift is for the giver to decide on.

Splatt34 · 18/11/2013 09:22

Surely you write a list / ask Santa for things you would LIKE to give him ideas. But the magic of Santa is that he KNOWS what you would really like best, even if you haven't even thought of it.

(Mind my eldest is 3 and wants a pink princess dress and torch so not tricky at all)

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 18/11/2013 09:24

I asked for a flying chair one year. I dee a picture of it and everything so santa knew how to make it. Grin

I was disappointed for about 5 minutes then got stuck into the stuff he did bring.

Op have you tried searching one direction computer on ebay, amazon and google?

My 5 year old wants a harp. A proper fully sized harp. Nope, not happening. I'd get a toy one but I can't find one anywhere.

LittleMissGreen · 18/11/2013 09:41

If she is expecting FC to make the computer, if you get her sewing stuff, could you put it into a homemade sewing/craft box decorated to look like a computer with one direction on the screen. With a letter that FC elves think that their interpretation is just what she needs.

TeaAndCakeOrDeath · 18/11/2013 09:44

lookatmycameltoe I found these if they're any good?

harp construction kit

pink harp

LittleMissGreen · 18/11/2013 09:46

Lookatmycameltoe I don't know what your toy harp budget is, but if you look on ebay you can get a new playable (very beginner) harp for £75. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-String-Baby-Harp-With-Case-And-Tuning-Key-/330656142633?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item4cfca45529

Or there are playable models for £35.
That was just the first couple that came up on the first page.

DD writes a list.
I tell her Father Christmas will pick a few things off the list but not everything, and also a few surprises.
Amongst the usual ridiculous requests there's usually a few normal toys I don't mind buying Grin

ILoveWoollyStuff · 18/11/2013 15:46

Unfortunately yourebeing I have which is how we came across the skins. Very sensible suggestions and callme I might have to employ that tactic and will bear it in mind for the future. It will surely happen again. Smile littlemissgreen I think that might just be the right way to go about it. Thanks Grin

Mine used to write lists to give santa ideas. They knew it wasn't a list of things they would actually get.
