Charity gifts?

By that I mean donating to a charity and printing out the 'thanks for your donation' bit.

Anyway, this year I'm going to give a 'donation' plus a small gift to PILs, BILs (DH side) and my parents, brother and SIL. My side will think it's a great idea but I'm not sure if the in laws will feel the same. I was thinking something from the supporters shop at my DSs rugby club for the BILs, a locally brewed beer for FIL and a garden related thing for MIL, will that sweeten it enough for them do you think or am I being rotten in giving what I want them to have?

I'm utterly stumped present-wise for them as they are well off and buy what they fancy without worrying and I only see them 4/5 times a year so am not in a position to have a great idea of any new interests or desires.

Does anyone else do this or is it a terrible idea?

Do it OP! The more I hear of this the more of a brilliant idea I think it. I have lovely in-laws that aren't in need of much. And I don't see them enough to know their taste & wants for small gifts. On the other hand I have a charity I love dearly - Theodora Children's Trust - and would like to make donations to the charity in various people's names but then I question whether it would be truly appreciated. We asked for charity donations only for our wedding and I know some were baffled and many did not donate but I personally think it a great idea and fitting for all occasions.
