Christmas Eve film....?

Any film recommendations for Christmas Eve afternoon for a nearly 4 year old and a 16 month old (more for the 4 year old) I cannot think of a single one, except the grinch but she is terrified of that film! Not really after a character thing like Mickey Mouse/ peppa. Just a nice happy not too stressful, she is emotional Santa type film. Thanks

My DC are older but love Elf (I think it's unbelievably stupid Grin )

Nativity 1 is good (Nativity 2 less so)

Home Alone but it might be a bit Shock with the burglers

Gruffalo/ Gruffalos Child

Polar Express is lovely, beautifully made

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/11/2013 21:42

And Arthur Christmas is nice

(We saw that Guardians of whatever film last Christmas Eve I fell asleep ) Blush

whyno · 17/11/2013 21:46

My 2 y o loved The Flight before Christmas, and so did we

cazza2878 · 17/11/2013 21:47

My dd was 4 last Christmas and LOVED Arthur Christmas - great film. She also really like Polar Express.

Muppets christmas carol was ranked #1 Christmas film!

hippoherostandinghere · 17/11/2013 21:47

For a 4 year old I would go with Arthur Christmas. Ds is 4 now and loved it last year. I stupidly bought the grinch this week and scared the life out of poor ds. Won't be watching that again.

I would have thought elf was a bit old for a 4 year old. Polar express is lovely though.

X-Post with Cazza

Elf for sure!

Wherediparkmybroom · 17/11/2013 22:01

Has to be the snowman we watch it every year after the children's crib service at our local church...with Chinese food!

Queenofknickers · 17/11/2013 22:03

Arthur Christmas - newish but totally fab

Queenofknickers · 17/11/2013 22:04

DO NOT get the Grinch - DSD watched it when she was 6 and didn't sleep for a week - and she was not easily scared!

chubbychipmonk · 17/11/2013 23:46

Santa Claus the movie, the one with Dudley Moore! Truly magical!!

iklboo · 18/11/2013 00:14

YY to Arthur Christmas. We really enjoyed it.

Jbck · 18/11/2013 00:14

We love Fred Claus, Elf and The Muppet Christmas Carol.
I bought Miracle on 34th St last year as DD2 loved the little girls coat on the DVD sleeve, had to explain to her (5yrs old) that it was just a film
And of course Santa was real!
Might get Arthur Christmas or Nativity this year to add to our collection.
None of us like Polar Express, gives me the heebie jeebies.

applecrumbleandcream · 18/11/2013 01:06

My dd was 4 when she watched Polar Express and sat enthralled throughout. She's 6 now and we still watch it as well as Nativity, The Snowman, Elf, Jingle all the way, Santa Paws, Jack Frost, Santa Claus the Movie. This year we're getting Arthur Christmas.

SmallBee · 18/11/2013 01:21

Definitely Muppets Christmas Carol! Then you can sing ' one more sleep till Christmas ' & mean it Grin

ShinyBauble · 18/11/2013 01:22

The Christmas tradition in our house is to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas (Snoopy) and the Garfield Christmas Special. I've watched them every year since I was a kid, and my son loves them too.

ShinyBauble · 18/11/2013 01:22

*Christmas Eve tradition, I meant!
