good small gifts for 18 month olds?

for various reasons, I have a few 18 month olds to buy for this Christmas, budget of about £5 per child. Boys and girls.

I am totally lacking inspiration though! My own DD is going to be 18 months, and we have got her a wee buggy for her teddies, but I need stuff I can post.

So, any ideas?!

thanks in advance!

Bubbles and balloons for short term entertainment.

A mini football (both sexes) - maybe not for posting!

Books, books, books. Something classic like We're all going on a bear hunt, or a Julia Donaldson.

The parents might appreciate something to wear or something else functional, rather than toys. And at that age the child isn't likely to mind too much.

Those light up bouncy balls are fab! I second the julia donaldson suggestion as well. jigsaws are good for this age too.

light up bouncy balls sound great, where might one find such things though?!

bubbles and balloons too, hadn't thought of that :)

thanks!

My local pound shop had little men and little miss jigsaws, I think you for 4 three piece jigsaws in each box.
Also had bouncy balls with snow and a Santa figure inside which lit up when bounced.

This has occupied every child I know for hours on end! Got it when my son was 10months for his first Christmas, he's now nearly 4 and he and 2 year old DD still play with it!

How about a dvd? They’re easy to post. Maybe something that would appeal to their age group, but something they are unlikely to have. For example, how about Rainbow, The Forgotten Toys or Charlie Chalk?

Poundland had a load of Barney (The Purple Dinosaur) dvds in, last time I was there.

B & M have some Winnie the Pooh peg puzzles for £3.99, which you might like.

Or, what about a nursery rhyme cd?

TheIggorcist · 15/11/2013 13:08

I wouldn't be please with balloons, tbh, dangerous for wee ones if not supervised all the time. Second the eggs, have just bought a second set for ds2 as ds1 broke the first set and much sadness all round.
What about a toot toot car?
These, and the eggs, go up and down in price on Amazon a lot.
Fruit/veg that you cut up and put back together is popular too (try ELC)

TheIggorcist · 15/11/2013 13:09

DVD wise - the Wiggles have been the biggest hit ever in our house.

DisneyAddict88 · 15/11/2013 20:15

little happyland set/fisher price little people.
little cars to push around (elc often have packs down to £5 or the motortown ones from there are cute too)
hand puppets - aldi had nice ones for £2.99 recently
finger puppets - ikea or amazon/ebay
lift the flap books - dear zoo and wheres spot are good
little bag of food/tea sets - tesco had some recently
mr potato head - if u can get on offer
stacking cups/ring
skittle set

and the entertainer is good for light up bouncy balls. if u have a tiger nearby they have nice little bits for kids.

and those egg sets are brill my nearly 5 year old still plays with them!
