Cheeky place marking as I have exact same problem for my two! Dd has got the moshi monster calendar but need something for 18 month old ds.

Gingersnap88 · 13/11/2013 10:42

I bought a fabric advent calendar last year and fill it with things for DD. This year I got Happyland people on sale / eBay so they are going in! Duplo is a good idea too Smile

No, you don't. Really you don't. They can 'share'. The two year old and 18m yr old won't have much of a clue anyway.

As far as I know lego and playmobil are they only ones other than sweets, pictures, or empty calendars to fill. I particularly like the playmobil, but one between two has always worked just fine.

DS1 2yo has a moshi monsters one, it was bought by a family member and it cost £18! Not sure if it will be worth it yet!

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 13/11/2013 10:51

Asda have Barbie ones as well if anyone is looking for a toy one for a girl (or a boy who likes dolls). :)

DisneyAddict88 · 13/11/2013 13:47

ive been worrying about this as my dd (5) will have a moshi monsters one and needed something for 18 month dd. they cant really share as youngest wil try and eat them! !

so have dug out the finger puppets I bought cheap at carboot and putting one in each day in a fabric one. also going to get some cheap xmas ones off ebay Grin

although to completely confuse things the baby group I take youngest to is giving out chocolate advent calenders so unsure whether to make them share or buy a second choc one too Confused

SlimJimBra · 13/11/2013 13:52

They could share but my older niece loves playmobil and it has some very small pieces that younger niece wouldn't be able to play with and anyway I thought it might be nice to get them one each.

I'm leaning towards the zhu zhu pets one for £5 from amazon, its more a token something really as DS has a cool lego one this year and DD 2.7yrs thinks she's five already Hmm

It will cost me more to buy a fabric one and stock... tho I'm dearly tempted by the Lakeland wooden advent calendar for £60 (my birthday money from my parents!!)

ctrlaltdel · 13/11/2013 14:06

DS (aged 2) is getting this one

kiwidreamer · 13/11/2013 14:09

See we need something like that one ctrl but a smidge more gender neutral would be nice, don't need princesses etc etc but we have those kinds of figures coming out our ears already... a vet or stables or gardener or baker or something not fire / police would be really good!

attheendoftheday · 13/11/2013 14:12

What about this one? It's suitable from 18 months. I was considering it for my dd, but didn't get it in the end, so I can't comment on it's quality.

I'm always surprised when other people say their 2 year olds wouldn't notice if their sibling had something and they didn't, my dd definitely would! And of age was meant to be sfaring something she would expect to have a go with it, which seems only fair to me.

attheendoftheday · 13/11/2013 14:20

And if she was meant to be sharing.

Stupid autocorrect.

SpookedMackerel · 13/11/2013 16:03

Last year I bought a fabric advent calendar and a playmobil 123 set for dd. The forest animals set had the right number of pieces and is sort of christmassy - well it has deer and for trees in it Grin. And dd was 18 months last year and absolutely did have a clue, and was asking to find the right pocket each day. She

KittieCat · 13/11/2013 16:06

Deffo go for a reusable calendar (ours is from m&s). We're going to fill it with little presents that are age appropriate and DS will enjoy.

2kidsintow · 13/11/2013 20:15

I always trot out the story at Christmas of our advent calendar as a child. (Cue the tiny violins)
There were three of us. We had one calendar. We took it in turns to open the doors. The other 2 would crowd round to see what PICTURE was behind the door. That was all. We got to open 8 doors each. :)

2kidsintow · 13/11/2013 20:17

I like the ones where the calendar is a tree and each drawer/pocket has a decoration to add to the tree.

Luggage16 · 13/11/2013 20:27

we used to have something similar to the link I just posted with little mini books each day -my daughter loved hearing the stories and then hanging the book on the tree each day - could be a good idea for younger siblings?

PoppyWearer · 13/11/2013 20:30

My 2yo is getting the Ecoiffier Abrick fake Duplo one that a PP has already linked.

SunshineOnARainyDay · 13/11/2013 21:27

What about this Peppa Pig one? Peppa Pig Advent Puzzle
