If you were a 5yr old girl, would you be disappointed with this?

So, if you were a 5 yr old girl, would you be disappointed come Christmas morning with the following:

From Santa:
2 books (The Worst Witch & Disney Fairies Annual)
DVD (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs)
small Rainbow Dash soft toy
a Toy Story game for her Explorer Leapfrog thingy
Playmobil Park
stocking full of random tat (choc coins, toothbrush, stickers, colouring book etc.)

from Mummy & Daddy to share with 2 younger brothers:
Wooden kitchen, pots & pans, play food etc.

A friend of mine expressed surprise that she was getting so few presents! Now I'm doubting myself and really cross with my friend!
I could spend more but have 2 other kids and would rather not. Surely, this is a respectable haul, no?? Am I being stingy??

Any thoughts?

Forgot to mention, I think your "friend" is a fool! I'd rather buy a few presents, and put the rest of the money in a saving account for them.

I always buy something to read, something to play with and something to wear. So your list is pretty big, but could maybe do with the clothing option. We always had a new item of clothing for birthday or Christmas, but that is maybe just my family.

Your friend was being rude.

It sounds absolutely fine to me - especially the Playmobil. Wink

I think a couple of "main" presents plus a stocking full of smaller things is plenty, especially if she will also be receiving presents from other relatives.

sound's great! and as other's have said you should not be doubting yourself on your friend's comments, it's very clear to see we all do Christmas differently from each other and all have a different idea's on what is the perfect amount for our children. I am also sure the result in every living room is the same... excited little faces over joyed with their gifts.

Thank you everyone. I feel reassured now! You're right about setting expectations though. I just know Christmas is going to get more and more expensive as time goes on so need to lower expectations accordingly now!

There are less than 5 yrs between my 3 dc so I'm imagining the Christmas when they are 13, 15 & 17 and it'll all be phones, tablets, ipods or whatever such weird brain implant chip thingys that have been invented by then to replace them! ££££££££!!!

Ditch your friend, she sounds like a cow.

I have a 5yo and she's getting a similar amount. I remember caring more about the surprise element rather than the value of the pressies. Smile

That's a great list! Lots of variety. And playmobil is always a Wow present IMO. Lots of little parts to fiddle with on the playground set! My DD is getting the swimming pool... might have to put a towel down on the living room floor Hmm

Your friend is RUDE

My 5 year old would love that. If money will run to it I would also add a small tea set to go with the kitchen. Mine love "cooking" on their kitchen and then "serving" it up on plates for their dolls , or me, to "eat"
