Stocking fillers for DS's girlfriend - 21 year old American student

DS' very nice American girlfriend is likely to be staying with us for Christmas and I want to get her some stuff for a Christmas stocking. Obvious things include bath bombs, shower gels, lip salve etc. She will be going back to the US in the New Year so it would nice to include a few British products - provided they don't weigh too much!
Any ideas?

Daft enough?

I have just been catching up on the Christmas bargains thread and saw a book that immediately made me think of this thread:

Very British Problems: Making Life Awkward for Ourselves, One Rainy Day at a Time

I do a stocking for my 28 year old OH. Hoping this year he'll do me one too!

Try Lush for some smellies, satsuma and chocolate coins for a typical Christmas touch! Maybe paperchase for some cute little stationary bits, little notepad or diary and pens??

I also second accessorize for some little bits but make sure she has pierced ears before buying earrings!

We gave my cousins Australian girlfriend a load of traditional British sweeties and she loved them.

Oh! Weird socks!

Cath kidston make up bag...the small ones are so cute!

Hear hear to Lush stuff, would recommend a pot of Angels On Bare Skin face scrub, it's great.

You could also get her a handbag sized umbrella, she might not realise how much it rains here!

For typically English treats I would have to insist you throw in a packet of Rowntree's Fruit Pastille's. Always the first thing I bought when I was living abroad and came home for visits.

You could also try and find one of those gimmicky American to English dictionaries, or one of the local dialect.

Might also be nice to buy her some toiletries of her own if she is staying with you, shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser etc.

Cath kidson for sure. Also do find out if she likes uk team of any sort, then you can get caps, scarves etc. my friend's dd really liked Chelsea fc due to a book so I took her a travel card holder. Street cred I had buckets of the stuff after that.

You could add the book DH bought me the first Xmas we were together - "How to be a Brit" - yes I still married him. (I'm Irish)

Oohhh! Has anyone seen those Wind Up Racing Royals? They would be EXCELLENT!

CiderwithBuda · 13/11/2013 14:05

Was in M&S today and they have lovely little tin Xmas trees with chocolates in that would make cute stocking fillers.

Another idea could be a cute British themed Xmas decoration for the tree. We went to family in California for Xmas one year and were given a Xmas decoration for th tree which I still have. Brings back nice memories.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions (even marmite/branston). Quite taken by the Racing Royals! Lots of ideas for a great Chirstmas stocking!
