Where can I get a nice hamper for my mum?

My DM will be on her own on Christmas Day. She is quite happy with this, but I thought it would be nice to send her a hamper so that she can enjoy some treats.

I have seen the ones in the Lakeland catalogue but am not enormously inspired. Can anyone recommend a company that does hampers? Budget isn't enormous, but I would like it to be nice.

I should probably mention that she is teetotal and vegetarian!

jemima I thought of this last Christmas for my mil. Tbh, the ready made hampers are way overpriced and contain loads of things that just wouldn't get eaten. I ended up buying a hamper from Amazon and filling it with proper things she likes myself. M&S are selling empty hampers for £15 as well, I saw them yesterday.

The shop bought ones tend to be ridiculously overpriced. I would make up your own. That way you can add nice little treats that you know she'll like and maybe wouldn't buy for herself - much more personal!

I got a fortum and mason one last year for mine. It was gorgeous.

Another time I got a wicker hamper basket from ikea, filled in with posh marks and spencer goodies, took in to my local florist and they put cellophane on it and it looked great for a fraction of the price!!!

My DM made one up for me a few years ago and I was genuinely touched. I could see a lot of thought had gone into it and really appreciated it.

I've done homemade hampers before, I was thinking more of a ready made one this year. DM lives miles away from big shops (nearest M&S is almost 2hrs away) and as she has arthritis she can't travel that far. She doesn't have the internet. So a hamper from a "nice" shop would be a real treat in her eyes.

I looked at Fortnum and Mason but most of them have alcohol in.

How about this Baskets Galore Alcohol Free Hampers

Fregola · 10/11/2013 21:59

Bettys.co.uk always look like a good bet. They have lots of alcohol free options.

Still couldn't find anything inspiring, but popped into our local deli today and they do hampers for Christmas which can be made up to any requirement you want. Good value too, they charge £5-£10 for the basket and wrapping (depending on size) and then you pay for the produce that goes in it. It doesn't tick the fancy non-local shop box, but I think she will like it. I may well get one for the inlaws too.
