I'm a bit confused about all the different kinds of bop it; any recommendations for this age group?

I had never heard to it, but have just looked it up. Personally, as a retired TA with over twenty years experience in primary schools, I don't think it seems very good at all for a young child.

Books, Duplo, Lego, model kits, art and craft materials, etc and activities he can share with a REAL PERSON, I think would be much more valuable.

Plenty of time for him to get hooked on 'tech' gimmicks in the future.

Please save your money, and get him something worthwhile.

Both my DC loved Bop It. We have the original version which is fine. DD used it from about 4, DS from about 6.

We sometimes play the party version as a family. I have the high score Grin

...and in terms of edukashional value, it is great for improving reactions when played solo. When played in groups, it affords all the benefits of group games eg motivation, encouragement, empathy etc

My dd, aged 14 got Bopit a few years ago and we had a lot of fun with it at family parties (I've got the family high score too!). My ds is 6 and he just finds it too hard so would have been very disappointing as a present for him.

I have Bop It and I'm in my 20s. In fact I gave just found it and started a thread.

My son is 4 and dont think boo it would be for him. I love it though

I think the Bop It games are a bit too tricky for that age group. My six year old finds them (we have a couple of variations) far too difficult and soon loses interest. I'd leave it for ages seven or eight and over.

5 is quite young for bop it, it requires a lot of dexterity and quick reactions. ds got the easiest one for Xmas when he was 7 and it was about the right age. His older cousin has the extreme version and ds now 9 struggles with it.

We have a bop it, although the younger dc (5+3) pick it up, they can't do it, so don't play for long. Dd (7) is better at it now, but only just coming into being able to play it and enjoy it. If you really want it, buy it for the family and let him your dc have a go. I sometimes buy DH this kind of stuff, then he can share with the dc and the children aren't disappointed with a present they can't do.

Hmm

we had much more fun as a family playing together with Bopit than doing crafts etc which are very singular activities.
I agree though it is better as a family or older child present but the younger ones do get something out of it from watching the competition etc
