Dd will be just 6 months ish come Christmas and haven't a clue what to get. We won't get much as she won't know what's happening anyway but want to get her something!

What are you going to do?

DS was that age last Christmas & he definitely appreciated the tree & the paper most. I think we got him a second hand (but with tags on) outfit and some bath toys! My sis made him a lovely hand knitted hoodie & the grandparents bought him loads of toys which he's only just started playing with now! Basically they don't need much & if people want to spend lots make sure it's on stuff they'll grow into.

I hope this helps & you have an absolutely magical first Christmas xxx

And definite yes to Disney's suggestion of stacking cups & Lamaze toys, DS still plays with his x

my little one will be 11 months but we've bought the VTech walker (it was the best thing we ever got for my first child) and i'm going to get him some wooden blocks.
He's mainly just going to want to eat the wrapping paper though.....

My DD1 was almost 7 months on her first Christmas.

She got a few outfits, some rattles etc for her stocking. She got a couple of things to grow into ie. we got her the Happyland rosebud cottage which she was too young for really but has been well played with since and still is played with, mainly by DD2.

She also got the fisher price sing and go choo choo, which is suitable from six months but is still played with now! I tried to give it to charity as both DDs are too old for it really (they're now 6 and 2) but they still play with it. DD1 puts her Alvin and the Chipmunk teddies in it and sends them for a ride.

Wooden blocks are a good idea too as they last them years.

My ds will be just 1. We are wrapping up all of his next size clothes as he loves paper/packages. He won't actually care what is in them! We have also bought him some balls from a second hand shop.

Last year he was a week old on christmas day. We gave him a dummy, he had more presents than anyone else. Mostly books.

We are going to ask for brio train track this year.

Xmasbaby11 · 06/11/2013 19:57

DD was 1 last Xmas. We didn't get her much to be honest - she wasn't into the unwrapping at all and we gave her what she needed as and when. Probably something like:

2 jumpers (PIL)
3 books
a walker
an activity table

Some things were secondhand as well.

Her birthday is 2 weeks after Xmas, and she did get a trike then and some more clothes.

DD2 will be nearly 7 months but even though she is inheriting DD1 toys need to get some stuff as DD1 is 3 & very excited.

I've got one of the big wooden ELC cubes with bead a maze on top second hand from a Facebook page, looks like it's never been used. stacking cups and flip flop cars half price in sainsburys the other week. sippy cup, rice cakes, bath toys. But need a few more bits.

DD will be 11 months. We've got her some clothes to grow into, the v-tech alphabet train, an ELC play cube thing and some books. Grandparents may get her a walker and some mega block type things but maybe as an IOU in a few months. Otherwise we'll ask for vouchers so we can get stuff throughout the year as she grows into things.
And then there's her birthday in January........

DS2 will be 14mo. Nearer the time we are taking him the the butchers and he can pick out a cut of meat Grin For his birthday he picked out and ate a t-bone steak :)

wamabama · 07/11/2013 10:13

Last year DD was 4 months. I got her the Lamaze foot and hand rattles but they weren't a hit, a wooden Moover walker for when that time came, wooden blocks, Sophie giraffe teether and bath toy, Manhattan toy mind shapes (soft blocks with black and white images on them for visual stimulation), black and white books for visual stim, Heimess baby gym, Manhattan skwish toy, a Christmas nappy, some other books aimed at babies most from "bright baby", stacking cups, a sippy cup and cutlery for when weaning happened a couple of months later, first Christmas bear from Mamas&Papas.

That's all I remember.

Well DS will be one in a week and a half, I have bought him some really cool animal skittles and a ball and my OH has bought him a couple of flap and button books. This prob only came to £20 if that, but I know he will love the skittles as they each have a see through body with rattle balls and spiny things in which he will LOVE shaking and he is obsessed with buttons and flaps

My niece will be 3 months old at Christmas. I've bought her a money box as a little keepsake.
