Where can I buy some new decorations without breaking the bank?

We haven't bought any decorations for years.
I don't really have any spare cash to go to garden centres or John Lewis!

Does anyone know anywhere online or on the high st that has nice deckys please?

Poundland had some nice looking ones the other day when I went in for some other bits. am tempted to go back for some Smile

TigOldBitties · 06/11/2013 16:18

Matalan had a few, think they also do big multipacks and things like that.

I quite like a lot of their homeware items.

chanie44 · 06/11/2013 16:20

How about making some.

I got my boss to get me some pine cones (he lives in the country and I live in the urban jungle). I've sprayed them gold (£2 for the spray).

I may make some felt baubles.

Paper chains are easy to make with the children, as are popcorn tinsel (thread popcorn on some wool)

I'm not very crafty, but I can follow instructions. And it will give me something fun to do.

Alternatively the poundshops have tinsel, hanging decs etc. I recommend getting them early as they sell out.

Next have some in the mid price range. If you buy real cheap decorations they may not last so long but JL is a bit pricey so Next sits nicely in the middle.

craftynclothy · 06/11/2013 17:04

Wilkos. I got this woodland themed pack of baubles for £5 (but they had smaller packs too) and an owl for the top of the tree for £3. They had other themes too.

Shinyshoes1 · 06/11/2013 17:06

Asda have some ok ones at £2.00 each .. Look at their online pg

Sammie101 · 06/11/2013 17:09

I second Wilkos, they have some lovely decorations in.
B&M bargains also have some nice ones at very reasonable prices Smile

Poundland and Ikea

TessCackle · 06/11/2013 17:13

I've bought all new this year. All poundland and asda, they are beautiful! Asda especially, they have big mixed packs, snow flakes, icicles etc etc and then they had little individual stars and cherubs for 25p in my store!
I got a beautiful "merry Christmas" felt banner from poundland that I'm going to string across my tree, giant gold bells, strings of shiny beads and led lights too. I'm obsessed!

LillianGish · 06/11/2013 17:14

Wilko and Poundland have a great selection. I have also observed that a lot of their stock is very similar (if not identical sometimes) to much more expensive shops. I love to look in Fortnum and Masons and Harrods just to get myself in the festive mood and often see the same stuff at eye-watering prices. One thing is for sure - no one can tell where your Christmas decs come from just by looking at them!

TessCackle · 06/11/2013 17:17

Also Argos have all their big multi packs on half price I noticed.

LEMisafucker · 06/11/2013 17:30

Charity shops have loads but you have to be quick, how about home made?

ihatethecold · 06/11/2013 17:35

Thanks everyone.
IKEA is too far away to make it cost effective.
Will check out poundland and the other ideas.
Do Aldi have Xmas decorations. Going there tomorrow to get pannatone!

I'm going to pop into home sense tomorrow.
Me and my dd made some lovely felt deckys last year.
I might dig out the rest of the felt.
I would love a garland.
Anyone seen any.?

oooh, I have a link saved for some really pretty DIY snowflake decorations, will post it shortly if you fancy a bit of DIY Smile

TessCackle · 06/11/2013 17:51

Asda have garlands but not online!

shoppingbagsundereyes · 06/11/2013 18:09

Asda had lots of cheap bits when I was there the other day. I think Next do some lovely stuff for really good prices. I bought a pack of loads of gold bits and bobs for something like £15 a few weeks ago. Even had a star for the top of the tree in the pack.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 06/11/2013 18:10

I hate the cold, I've just received a garland from eBay that was £15. Is beautiful, but did take nearly a month to arrive.

Marne · 06/11/2013 18:15

Matalan and tesco have 3 for 2 on decorations. Was in matalan this morning and they had some nice bits.

ihatethecold · 06/11/2013 19:10

shoppingbagsundereyes
Can you link the garland please.

I'm so tempted to upload photos to all the decoration threads I'm on Blush

Spaulding · 06/11/2013 19:38

I second Next. Ours have lasted two Christmases so far and they're great. The glitter hasn't worn off and none have broken. Think I bought a big box of various baubles of shapes and sizes for £10.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 06/11/2013 20:56

Can't do links ( IT thicko) but the seller is wearechristmas and the garland is a 6ft cream and gold decorated garland. Am impressed with the quality, branches are thick and fairly realistic looking and there's lots of sparkly baubles, pine cones etc on it. Is slightly wired so you can get it to droop nicely over the ends of a mantlepiece.
Dd and I oohed and ahed over it this afternoon - she wanted to leave it up til Xmas!

yonisareforever · 06/11/2013 21:26

wilkisnons always do some nice ones and of course TK maz

Rootvegetables · 07/11/2013 13:01

I saw some lovely traditional straw ones in the lidl catalogue thing I think they were £3 for 40 and looked so nice.

SunshineAndPeardrops · 07/11/2013 14:55

I assume this is the garland that shoppingbagsundereyes bought.
