Any other boys like doc mcstuffins?

Ds is 4 and a half and adores doc mcstuffins and her annoying friends. He's asked for a few things for christmas but is dead set on a doc mcstuffins doctor's kit he saw in the supermarket so he can " be the real doc mcstuffins." He plays at being doc anyway with his regular dr kit but his eyes lit up when he saw the doc one. His other one is falling apart as it's had so much use so I was contemplating getting him a new set anyway.

Dh is dead against it. He thinks it will make ds gay Hmm Way to go with being open minded and not ignorant dh. I have said that a) if ds is gay does it matter and b) if he's gay he will be gay regardless of whether or not he had a doc mcstuffins doctor kit.

Shall I just get it for ds? Surely he can't be the only boy who likes it? He also likes fighting and playing soldiers so it's quite nice to encourage his more caring side tbh!

I am a twat & would get it to piss my OH off. That said the reviews I read of it are crap.

Doc McStuffins pisses me off with it's pink / purple tint. It's so positive in lots of other ways, then it's all layered with pastel pink & purple. Even the toys Doc plays with go against gender stereotyping.

There are a lot of boys that like Doc. I've read in several other places that boys want a Doc doll. Sad ones were a boy wanted one, saw the pink & said he couldn't have it because of the pink & he was a boy. The mum still wanted to get it him, but the boy didn't want it anymore. Angry

I have never heard of this Doc McStuffins and my son is gay anyway. What's wrong with being gay?

Mittensonkittens · 06/11/2013 21:30

The medical bag reviews are ok. The rest of it appears to be tat.

Nothing is wrong with being gay at all. My dh appears to be stuck in the Stone Age unfortunately.
And a lot of people still seem to separate girls' toys / boys' toys but I suppose given that all the shops do it it's not surprising.

I don't know why they had to make all the doc mcstuffins merchandise pink, purple and glittery though. It will put a lot of boys off as kinect said.

My DS's age 5&8 both love Doc McStuffins Grin and the Tinkerbell films and other stuff you could consider "girly". I'd get it for him Smile

My 3 yo boys love doc and the gang. I would probably get them the sparkly doc bag if they didnt already have an ordinary one. But then i have no problems with taking them out in public in the dressing up outfits of their choice (their sisters pirate dresses) Grin.

My dd 4 loves Doc. I wish it wasn't so girly and yes the glitter goes everywhere. I think Doc should share the job with a boy Doc, a neighbour perhaps. Disney have missed a trick there.

My dd likes Doc, Sofia, Peppa, Shrek and TMNT.

Go for it, your son will be delighted. Ignore your husband, I am not even going to comment on his views because I can't do it politely.

My son isn't a Doc McStuffins fan but he is a Peppa Pig fan. He has a pink Peppa Pig phone and a Peppa Pig cuddly toy he carries around. For Christmas he will be having a baby doll, a pushchair and in his stocking one of those magic dolls bottles.

Toys are for children, for for boys or for girls.

My nephew loves Doc McStuffins and plays with all my DD's doc stuff (including doctors kit!) when he's round...

I said I would get him some for Christmas... They said no.

I'm going to anyway. You should too Wink

My ds (3) likes doc mcstuffins. Not so much that he would ask for the toys but if he wanted them I would no doubt buy them for him. He has my little ponies that are his prized possessions!

NannyPlumForPM · 07/11/2013 16:14

I saw a fabulous post on a thread that listed all the toys someone had bought for her 2 ds's- one list had trucks and cars and traditional 'little boy' presents and the other list was sparkly and pink and dolls and ponies and prams- the end said "they're very different are my boys" but just shows- a child's a child no matter what takes their fantasy. Unfortunately dd lives in a pink fairyland wonder house with sparkles and Disney and dolls so I think she hit every branch of the gender specific tree Hmm
