You need brandy whisky or rum, I wouldn't use vermouth.

He was sent for whiskey....think this was an attempt at money saving.

I shall go back up later on and get what I asked for myself

Aldi Amaretto does the job. And it's a fiver or so.

sherry, whisky, brandy, even cointreau but not vermouth - ugh!

Keep the Vermouth for risotto

At least it'll be useful for something TheLeastAccomplished. I'm just on my way for dd2 from nursery which is next to Lidl, so will pop in there if I have the time. should have just done it myself in the first place...never mind!

Hmmmm, I like the sound of Aldi Amaretto.

I've done an initial soak in Brandy, but have run out Sad

I've got lots of single malt in the house, no sherry, some Russian Brandy Confused or do I go for the Amaretto?

Yes, use the vermouth whenever you need to add a glass of wine to cooking, it lasts much longer than an opened bottle of wine.
