I really need any suggestions you might have. She is bed bound but can play for short periods of time. She used to be such a bouncy little one but the illness has changed all that.Sad. Thanks for your help.

What about lacing up craft kits? Kind of like sewing for little ones xxx

mumtoxii · 03/11/2013 20:54

What about a doodleart colour in poster?

clairemum22 · 03/11/2013 21:20

Jigsaw which could fit on lap tray? Or color wonder set? Maxi Hamas beads?

girlywhirly · 04/11/2013 08:17

What about Designabear and outfits, or there is a Hello Kitty one now both at Argos. Both have a pyjama outfit. There is a 3 for 2 on the outfits and accessories. Or a pillow pet, also in the Argos catalogue.

Or what about some sort of character playhouse where it all folds up into a carry case, light and easy to manage in bed.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 04/11/2013 09:02

Does she like colouring...Buster Activity do great colouring books, and a leap pad.

HenriettaBrain · 04/11/2013 09:26

I think a doodle bear would be a great present, it's one of those ones you get pens with and can colour it in/design it whatever way you want. Perhaps all her visitors could write her a little message on it when they come to see her

I have a 3 and 5 year old and little play figures seem to be very popular at this age. They can be played with in a very unstructured way if she's wanting to play but feeling too tired to follow instructions or do anything that requires concentration or a steady hand.

Depending on what her interests are, the Disney favourites moments figures and playsets are lovely and a good size (similar to a playmobil figure in height) and have interchangeable dresses. We have one of the storybook playsets on that link and I can highly recommend it. They have similar figures for the Sofia the First series discounted in Sainsbury's at the moment.

Busy books are also brilliant for little play pieces, although these could get lost in the bedclothes as they are quite small, especially if she is feeling sleepy. ASDA direct have a selection for £5

Die cast cars would roll nicely across hospital bed trays. Hot wheels are great for funky designs (half price in Sainsbury's at the moment) and Siku do a lovely selection of real life vehicles. Might seem a strange gift for a girl, but my very girly 3 year old has just got into them and gets hours of fun from them.

Schleich animal figures are lovely and always well played with. They are currently 3 for 2 in ELC and I have a 25% off one-use voucher that I'd be happy to give you if you PM me.

A pair of binoculars could be fun for spying on the nurses looking out of the window from her bed.

How horribly helpless you must feel. I hope she soon returns to that bouncy little girl.

Oh bless her. All of the toy suggestions here are good. Along other lines -

If her medication/therapy is not making her feel sick then maybe some yummy treats like hot chocolate mix with marshmallows?

Or some really cosy pyjamas. Perhaps a nice soft-lined hat if she has lost her hair to help keep her warm on the ward. Slipper socks or slippers - there are some advertised on TV at the moment which are little animals that move their ears etc when you walk which look fun.

Wikkisticks are good, and DD loves her Littlest Pet Shop Singing Cat.

HenriettaBrain · 04/11/2013 11:55

A snuggleuppet. It's a blanket that doubles up as a hand puppet! Smile

SpockSmashesScissors · 04/11/2013 11:59

One of those magnetic drawing boards, like a modern etch a sketch argos

Little people maybe the Sofia the first ones sofia

Some playdough with a tray, and some cutters etc. this is a good set

Maybe a small lego set.

I recently bought a secondhand DS with 5 games, like peppa pig and little mermaid, for £20, advert was in the local newspaper, maybe something similar.

tortoisesarefab · 04/11/2013 12:03

Fuzzy felts?

Poor little thing, hope she picks up soon

SpockSmashesScissors · 04/11/2013 12:03

DD the same age has this playmobil set, the horse one in the green case. You could get both cases 2 for £15.

Really hope she starts to feel a little better soon. Sad

TeamSouthfields · 04/11/2013 12:08

A cosy small blanket with her favourite character on.

Soft bodied doll.

Teddy.

Aldwick · 04/11/2013 15:19

Carddies are great for that age. I often produce a new box when my guys are ill and need something easy to do. My first mosaics are also nice. Small table football game? My little sandbox - expensive but fun. I'm wondering if some of the office novelty things that come out at this time of year would be good - racing snails, 3d pin thing etc. I'm guessing her attention span isn't huge while she's feeling so rotten poor thing so cheap and cheerful ten mins at a time entertainment is probably good. Girls world styling head? Wooden dress up bears? Stamping set? Busy books?

Coveredinweetabix · 04/11/2013 18:22

What about some audio books? Although you'd have to check she had something she could listen to them on.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 04/11/2013 20:09

Forgot about play doh, this whole range is great, there is a large boutique with clothes nad things

audio books a great idea too.

wow long link, these look interesting, not sure if they would work but they are story telling cubes, you roll the dice which have all sorts of different images on, then start to tell a story. there are some rules to help....I have not tried them yet, but got another set for my DD for xmas. they have Fab reviews on amazon though and wandering off in her imagination might be nice whilst stuck in bed Sad

Amy106 · 04/11/2013 23:23

Wonderful ideas...thank you all so much for the help!

I'd second audio books - my son loves them. Also, Christmas activity craft stuff - paper chains to make, etc (can brighten her bed with them).

Also, we had such fun with face paints by snazarzoo. you can paint her face (if that's ok with her condition) or she can paint her visitors. This range wasn't too messy and most of the kits come with an ideas manual.

Hope she feels better, best wishes xx
