I'm finding it really hard to narrow it down!

Normal books:
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (will arrive with pjs on Xmas eve)
Possibly a couple of others by Seuss as DD loves them.
Some chapter books for DD(6) - possibly Roald Dahl/Enid Blyton... I work in a library so am in a way reluctant to buy many but then I adored having my own copies as a child too and maybe when I have read them to her she will also want to read them herself one day.
Picture books for DS(4) - a few Julia Donaldson ones we haven't got yet but we've had them from the library: superworm, stick man etc.
Other picture books we've enjoyed from the library. Some of which are my old favourites too :o
Possibly famous five annual for me Blush

Activity books:
DD - art (last term's topic) colouring especially Van Gogh as he's her favourite, titanic stickers (this term's topic), maybe Egypt (as they are getting playmobil pyramid), maze book, kings and queens stickers she can do with my mum (history nut)
DS - not so much into colouring so probably just a sticker book, maybe spaceships or dinosaurs. Possibly a really simple maze/tracing type book as he's just got into actually using a pen to write and draw (just started reception)
DH - M C Escher (favourite artist) colouring book :o
Me - some other artist colouring/doodle book, not decided yet.

Now to narrow it down Hmm Blush

Bumping this...

In need of some inspiration for DD who is 4yo.

We have A LOT of books (we are very much book people) and she gets books from the library.

Going to get her the pop up Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, we tried to start reading the 'proper' story a bit ago but I think it was too much. She can handle books that are for older children and loves being read to and I'm keen to capitalise on that.

Any ideas?

What about a shorter Dahl book like George's marvellous medicine or fantastic mr fox? I can't find the right ones on amazon but in whsmiths you can get A4 versions (anniversary special I think) that are all glossy paper with bigger colour illustrations. GMM was DD's first chapter book and it was a smoother transition as the layout was more like a picture book IYSWIM?

Or there's the Jill Tomlinson books (owl who was afraid of the dark etc) in chapter book form, or paddington. Or secret seven or worst witch?

And has she got any Dr Seuss? The Lorax is wonderful as is Horton Hears A Who. And well just all of them really, some are more storyish than others though (others being more silly nonsensical rhymes - DD also loved one fish two fish red fish blue fish, they are great for phonics practise too as they are full of short made up words!)

At 5yo dd1 started chapter books. Off the top of my head we read;

Owl who was afraid of the dark
Amelia Jane collection (Enid Blyton)
Teddy Robinson
Dilly Dinsoaur (was loved by dd1!)
My naughty little sister
Milly Molly Mandy

Will have to look upstairs to remember more.

Oh the wishing chair collection (Enid Blyton) was a big hit as well.

Can't find the exact version on amazon but we also have a (library) copy of the jungle book that again is beautifully illustrated. Might be a possibility?

Long shot but does anyone have this and if so is it any good?
