Is this a horrible idea?? I am thinking of either buying a plain canvas bag or some plain Christmas baubles and getting DD to decorate. I might even put some home made biscuits in the bag. Will teachers this this is cheap and naff? Any other ideas for home made gifts?

I would love it. I love homemade gifts. I like the idea of the child being involved in it.

I usually make something, and DCs usually get a nice "thank you" card from the teachers.
Chocolate truffles, crystallised fruit, naice coffee in a decorated jar, biscuits in a drawstring bag, we'll turn our hands to making a range of things.

We made snowman pics for teacher and TA last year - they seemed genuinely pleased! I think they get lots of stuff so I would say give things that can be used up, are small or can be chucked away after Christmas!

I'm a teacher. Homemade presents are always my favourite. Shows thought and care and input from children. I also like wine though.

I saw a knitted coffee cup surround with thank you Mrs Smith on it on Pinterest. Thought that was a good idea Smile

I can't knit, that's Pinterest for you.

Yes I would love home made presents, they are my favourite, followed by stationary, chocolates and wine Grin

I'm not a teacher but have family who teach.
Fav presents:
Nice tea, herbal too and coffee for the staff room
Biscuits, the nicer the better. Homemade biccies trumps everything else.
Homemade jam or honey
A thermos mug
Booze but neither drink wine so getting stuff they like is rare. They got non-alco cordial that's served hot which they adored. Late chilly staff meetings improved immeasurably I gather.
A homemade card or picture from the child

That's about it. Stuff, they just give to charity and if it's homemade they then feel guilty about binning it but with 20-30 kids every year it's an awful lot of stuff/tat to keep.

Nice homemade card and biccies would go down a storm I think.

Have a look on pinterest, we're making reindeer plant pots this year, which is a small brown plastic plant pot, stick on eyes and a red nose, for the antlers just cut out a hand print on brown card and fill with chocolates, stuff the antlers into the chocolates and wrap in some Christmassy Clear plastic, shouldn't cost too much to make

Love the ideas, thanks! I think I may do handmade stuff from DC for both grannies too.
