Has anyone seen any nice Christmassy mugs and plates anywhere? Every other year I've seen loads I've really wanted and now that I've finally given myself permission to buy some I can't find any. Thanks.

Emma Bridgewater has lots. Bit pricey but very pretty. Coveting some myself. Smile

Or this is quite pretty and a bit more reasonable!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 26/10/2013 23:40

Or here.

Can you tell I want some? Grin

I've got some very old Country Vine from BHS ( white with an all over ivy pattern)

I use white plates some years ( got some large oval white steakplates) with some Portmerion Holly and Ivy and Spode Christmas Tree to add some Christmas glamour .

The Portmerion and Spode came from various places, TKMaxx had loads before.

Thanks - sadly my budget is more Dunelm Mill than Emma Bridgewater. They all look lovely though. I'd forgotten about TKMaxx.

Marks and spencer have mugs..not sure what else

I have the portmerrion holly and ivy set. I've been collecting for 12 years and have loads now.

The advantage is that you can keep collecting as the ones in next and m and s change every year. Plus if you buy portmerrion as seconds and after Christmas you can get massive discounts especially if there is an outlet near you. Boundary mill is brilliant.

I got a couple of Villeroy and Bosch Toy's Delight dinner plates last year and they look lovely as serving plates and go perfectly with other white china. I also have some Spode Christmas Tree, though I wish I'd bought slightly less as I prefer variety and it can look a bit matchy. ecookshop (dawson's department store) have 50% off Spode Christmas tree and 20% off lots of other china like the Portmerion and Toys Delight.

Matalan if you want inexpensive

babsmam · 27/10/2013 08:49

B and m bargains if there is one near you

dementedma · 27/10/2013 08:51

I just use the same stuff we use all year round.

AnyFuckerForAScone · 27/10/2013 09:15

I bought some of the chargers from Matalan, they are rather lovely.

DontmindifIdo · 27/10/2013 09:21

I tend to make it one of the 3 times a year I actually get the good wedding china out. (which is all white, it could be 'every day' but we have small DCs, when they are older the good plates will make an appearance more often).

However, rather loving the idea of making an effort with the christmas table this year, might get the berries cake stand from the Dunelm link, lovely for christmas tea, and I'm being very very temped by this Christmas Tree salt and pepper set for pure christmas naff-ness!

DontmindifIdo · 27/10/2013 09:22

Stupid question, charger plates, are you using them basically as placemats? (bit common here)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/10/2013 09:28

Oooh the salt&pepper set is gorgeous Dontmind

I've got a clear Mason & Cole set and a Ben de Lisi black and white pugs set Blush

Not used charger plates (though those Matalan ones are lovely) they are bigger than your dinner plate to give an accent of colour.
What puts me off them is the storage and you can't dishwash most of them.

I'm doing cream and gold this year so I might get the Sainsburys beaded placemats
