I'm having my very own nightmare before C'mas - dolls

Ok. Now I should say to start with that dolls freak me out, in a big big way. I also have a three year old who has asked for a new doll for Christmas. Currently she has a very small soft bodied doll who she has adored for two years but unfortunately slides out of the doll pram and has no clothes because she is a very unusual size.

Off I go to toys r us. Shop assistant lovely (except for the joke she makes about them rising up at night) and talks me through the various dolls. But they are all in packaging and I can't touch them and work out which my dd1 would like. I want one that can get wet or dirty, that is a good size to sit in highchairs or the pram, I think one that cries or needs 'caring for' will make dd1 unsettled and I can barely comprehended potty training my children let alone a bloody doll and so the one which I liked was a nanuco?

Any good? Very few reviews on amazon. Tia

I haven't seen the nanuco dolls but in the past have had baby born dolls and baby annabells I just don't tell dd they can actually eat and drink therefore don't have to deal with the mess the dolls make when they wee everywhere!

Methe · 26/10/2013 20:26

You need a bog standard baby annabel :)

OurMrsReynolds · 27/10/2013 08:53

Baby Annabel can't get wet though - I'm getting my DD one of these

I have got my 3 yr old a tiny tears classic, it wets and has long hair she can brush. (One of her favourite things to do!). I have got more clothes for it from frilly lily.

DD has one from the Early Learning Centre called Bella which can be bathed but is also quite a nice size doll - DD sits her in high chair and pushchair etc. She comes in a bathrobe! We also had a Corolle doll that could be bathed and was soft bodied - quite pricy though! Sorry can't do links..

DD has loads of dolls but STILL wants another one for Christmas Shock

bigwellyfucker · 27/10/2013 18:34

OurMrsReynolds now that is a very sweet doll, I'm still browsing options - saw that some of them are large enough to wear tiny baby or newborn outfits and that could be a great way to use some of our stash.

Its difficult because they aren't cheap so don't want to make a mistake, the soft bodied are so tactile but then she loves washing the dolls at nursery which need ds a hard body. Hmm. Decisions decisions.

The best baby dolls IMO are Corolle dolls. They make soft bodied dolls that have polystyrene beads inside so they can go in the bath. Eg this one which comes with a free outfit

OldMrsReynolds
Just to let you know, that dolly set costs £17.99 at Smyths:-

La Newborn Gift Set

If you have a sainsburys nearby, they had a baby Annabel bathtime fun doll for around £24 as part of there half price toy sale.

This has just cropped up on the Christmas bargain thread, and I thought it might be worth posting here.

For anybody buying dollies and dolly accessories this Christmas.

Mamas and Pappas Zeddy and Parsnip Dolly's Highchair is down to £6.19

OurMrsReynolds · 28/10/2013 18:29

Thank you sunshine

Fisher Price Little Mommy dolls are lovely - try Amazon and Ebay :)

Behindthescenes

I'm now all tied up in love with the Rubens Barn dolls, I have a baby DD as well and can see two appearing on Christmas Day. Can't be bathed though. Corelle are on my freaky list but DD1 would probably love them.

Oh arse.
Dunno.

Grin I find those Rubens Barn ones far more freaky! But if you like those, have you seen the dolls they do at ikea which are similar but waaaay cheaper?
