How long does fudge keep for??

I want to do a trial run of some fudge for presents, if it turns out lovely then ideally I'd like to keep it to put towards the gifts but wasn't sure how long it will be 'fresh' for... I'm thinking the sugar keeps it somewhat preserved (airtight container) or would I be better waiting until early December?

I think human consumption would be more of an issue than freshness.

It would in our house anyway not that we've eaten all the chocolate treats we made and used the bath bombsalready oh no

Fudge wrapped and in an airtight container will keep in the fridge for 3 weeks.

Wrap it in grease proof, a layer of foil and then into an airtight container and it will freeze well.

Fudge - Meh, you want to make tablet - it would last longer well technically :o

Ah soontobe you've thrown down the gauntlet........

Have you got a good tablet recipe?

Condensed milk (or mulk as my Dad would call it) butter, sugar.
It has little white patches on the surface, a pleasing 'snap' and melts on your tongue.........

lol - no I don't have my own recipe but leave it with me, I know where I can get a good one! I always just ate other peoples and now I only dream about it - see my nickname :o

okay - here you go:

500g granulated sugar
125ml milk
50g butter
1tbsp golden syrup
200ml condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

1/ melt butter and milk together.
2/ add sugar and syrup and stir until sugar has dissolved.
3/ add condensed milk
4/ stir gently all the time, boil to 118 degrees Celsius.
5/ remove from the heat and allow to settle. Add vanilla extract.
6/ beat until it begins to stick on the bottom of the pan.
7/ pour into a greased tin (15-20cm)
8/ allow to set until cold. Cut into squares.

It will keep for 2 weeks in an airtight tin

Thanks

I have two tins of condensed mulk in the pantry, crying because they weren't made into Millionaire Shortbread.

I'll give the tablet a trial run next week (DH loves it, he doesn't eat chocolate and I don't know if the DC would eat it. I'll test it;s keeping qualities)
