Literally the only things she has asked for is hair clips and pyjamas

She's getting a bike for her birthday a few days before Christmas and knows its a birthday/ Christmas present as its more than I would normally spend on a birthday present

My Christmas budget is around £75 and I would probably portion it as 30-40 on a main present and the rest on bits

She likes animals and minecraft, and....erm.......

Help?

Pillow pets? Animal adoption? Hair dryer? Michael morpurgo bookset? Baking set? Cakepop maker? Slushy cups?

frazzled74 · 20/10/2013 13:56

Minecraft annual

17leftfeet · 20/10/2013 13:58

Oooo slushy cups -I knew there was something I wanted for her stocking Grin

Problem is she is number 2 so a lot of the books, baking stuff etc we already have and she's got curly hair that never goes near a dryer

Is she into the Cup Song? Mine is and I have just discovered that you can buy proper stacking cups. £11 Amazon so that is a good stocking filler.

CrotchStitch · 21/10/2013 07:32

If you are really stuck why not stick £40 in an envelope and tell her that when she sees something she really wants she can have it? I can't see the point of agonising over a way to spend £40 on her if she hasn't asked for anything specific and at 10 she's surely old enough to understand the importance of money and no waste :)

MadeOfStarDust · 21/10/2013 08:43

yy - why buy crap she doesn't even say she wants, when soon she will be of an age where £40 be the best present ever to spend on something she really wants...

idiot55 · 21/10/2013 08:49

Im in a similar position , my daughter will turn 10 the week before christmas.

idiot55 · 21/10/2013 08:50

Sorry, was intending to suggest something but i have no idea!

onlysettleforbutterflies · 21/10/2013 08:58

DSD is nearly 11, we got her a furby last year which she loved - got it by opening an isme account, so it was £30 off first spend, so it made the furby only £30, I think they're doing the same offer this year. No idea what we're getting her this year though, possibly a docking station for her ipad...Finding it a really hard age to buy for.

plum100 · 21/10/2013 13:52

Hi , I am just as stuck for my 9 year old dd. All she wants is a laptop, phone, or tablet - she is getting none of these! - We got her an Ipod touch last xmas and I feel that is enough.

So this year I am stuck, her main present is a new scooter but I'm struggling for stuff to 'play ' with. She isn't into 'toys' - its all lip gloss, jewellery, cds etc but I would like her to have something to DO on xmas day.

So far she has a perfume making kit and some leopard print stationary so any ideas I can pinch will be welcomed!!!

wonderingsoul · 21/10/2013 14:02

baking set? you could make a small hamer.. with cutters, cake mix. frosting.. little cook book.. chocolate moulds// chocolate to melt..

friendship braclet kits..

DaftMaul · 21/10/2013 15:45

Jewellery making kit?

Dd went to a jewellery making party a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I am going to get her a small kit with pliers, beads and charms, I think.

Dd also wants more sylvanians.

I'm not giving her cash for 2 reasons

1st I would have to take her shopping

2nd she still genuinely believes in Father Christmas!

She never asks for stuff, just says 'whatever Father Christmas brings me will be fine' but I generally have an idea what to get her

I have a younger DC - so although DD1 (12) knows we still pretend Santa comes ...
Last year I gave her 'gift voucher' from Santa...a printed piece of paper in an envelope with a few clip arts and the words Gift Voucher for from Santa.

Then you could 'cash' it for her at your bank! ....just a thought (and you wills till have to take her shopping!)
I also got my DD a 6 mth subscription for a magazine she loves (Shout) and gave her the latest copy and another 'voucher' saying it was a subscription .....
(But then her pile looked empty - so she got lots of other stuff like PJS and pants to top it up - in fact probably spent twice the amount on DD1 than poor DD2 ...)
Poor DD2 has all DD1s cast offs doesn't really 'need' anything - and at 6 is too old really for me to pass off DD1s old toys as new - although might be a few Sylvanian bits in the attic I can get away with but nothing big (best ever was DD1 when she still believed telling DD2 she used to have one of those - and asking me where it was!!Blush)

DumSpiroSpero · 21/10/2013 23:52

WWF Kids Club Membership... from £3 per month or £4.50 including adopting an animal.

DumSpiroSpero · 21/10/2013 23:54

plum Sequin Art kits are pretty good for keeping them occupied!

kissitbetter · 21/10/2013 23:59

I got my DSD a cuponk for her birthday and she played with it for hours - something to do on the day
