Stocking filler ideas for toddlers

DS will be 2 a week after Christmas, so obviously stockings have to be catered for the fact that most things go for a test run through his mouth before he does anything else with them.

I thought it might be nice to have a little thread for parents of toddlers to get ideas for Christmas stockings. So far I'm thinking:

Socks

Chocolate buttons (coins/snowmen/santas will be eaten with the foil)

A flannel

A small wooden toy - have seen some lovely wind up cars and trains in the local garden centre

Some glow in the dark stars to fasten to his ceiling

A little book

Please add your contributions!

Balls - either small soft foam ones or a larger blow up (so it fits in the stocking). I remember spending a lot of time playing with those when my two were that age.

Crayons and some paper

A child's torch - always good fun for hide n seek and looking in cupboards or under furniture

Sticker books, colouring books, new pyjama's, little musical instruments, new sippy cup and plates / cutlery etc (the nuby monster / flowers range is good)

I always put in a brioch and a carton of strawberry milk (long life soya stuff that doesn't need to be in the fridge) add that to the apple & orange that is traditionally in there anyway, and it means that there is enough for a quick breakfast for hungry kids who can tuck into that while we sleep we go downstairs to put the lights on/get the video camera ready and check that Santa has been before we go downstairs - it isn't always easy to get them to take a break for breakfast once the present opening has begun.

new tooth brush
apple
satsuma
Christmas colouring book
crayons
small bag of chocolate buttons

DS (and his dad) had a whoopy cushion last Christmas, when DS was 3. don't know if that might be too scary for a just 2 year old?

cravingcake · 15/10/2013 21:22

I think my DS's stocking this year (he'll be just over 2) will have....

Toothbrush
Bubble Bath
Flannel
Bath crayons or toy
Toy car
Colouring book & crayons
Chocolate coins
Orange/Satsuma
Little box of cereal (probably chocolate flavoured to make it special) to eat for breakfast
a new drink bottle
A football or rugby ball
I was thinking of playdoh also but probably wont put that in as it requires too much adult supervision otherwise it would be fed to the dogs or smushed into the carpet somewhere.
Maybe a novelty hat

All stuff I would be buying anyway.

For his first year's stocking (he was only 8 weeks old) he got a uv swimsuit (amazingly cheap around this time of year), a cup, plate and spoons, ducks for the bath, pj's and a toothbrush.

My ds was 21 months last Christmas and he had the following in his stocking:

Happyland farm animals
Small Sandra Boynton books
Vtech Toot Toot cars
Upsy Daisy toy
Digger socks
Diecast bus
Reindeer keyring
Thomas pull back toy
Thomas DVD
Dolphin bath toy
