My little boy has just started nursery at what will be his school, im just wondering, do I buy his nursery teacher & the TA a Christmas gift or is it not the done thing?

I do, I buy all the staff in the class a present.

LSA have nearly the same amount as teachers as they do so much work that us parents don't realise.

Some children do, some don't. It's about 50/50 at my school.

DD always sent Christmas and end of year gifts when at primary. Not sure what she will do now at secondary though - too many teachers!

I always buy a small token gift for each child in my class at Christmas and end of year too. It is only a token though as have at least 30 in a class.

BTW - I work as a TA/HLTA these days. Most parents, who are doing gifts, have given to us both - teacher and TA.

We always make something, my dds favourite present from her in nursery was a portrait that she painted of her.

It was not that great a picture but 6 years on she still raves about it.

You don't need to spend lots.

Dd generally makes something like a tree decoration or a flannel reindeer or something similar. I buy a bottle of wine or chocolates to go with it. This year she is making felt wine bottle covers in the shape of Christmas trees so I will buy a bottle of prosecco or something similar.

Ds started school this year and I'm going to, nothing huge just a token gift.

Ok, I think I will buy them one of the very small yankee candle jars for each and wrap in fancy cellophane, I might see if I can find somewhere that sells Christmas decs that I can personalise from my ds... as a teacher would that be special to you? Im well aware my child is only special to me and is just another pupil to them x
