To me, stocking gifts are sweets & chocolate and maybe a little car or figure...

Thanks Guitar girl. I had thought the same thing about buying online. My brother works near-ish to Hamleys, so will ask him to have a look, and I will keep an eye out for American sweetshops, but have to say I have never seen one.

Smokedmackeral - my first thought was that you could possibly paint the white bits of normal candycanes with food colouring....
I realise it would be a pita, but if you're desperate?

little things that fit in a sock. plus an annual or book sticking out the top ( or laid underneath) to keep DS quiet for an hour or so.

an apple in the toe, some walnuts ( DS likes them) choc coins, a lego mini fig, some little tat toys, bubble bath, a flannel or a novelty toothbrush, some gloves or socks that kind of thing.

DD is only 2 so I didn't want to put too many sweets in. Last year and the year before her stocking gifts were just a couple of her actual gifts put into a stocking. Rattles and cuddley toys fit nicely into a stocking! However, this year I have bought a character flannel and bath crayons, mini tubs of playdoh and playdoh tools, hair clips, Mr tumble snap cards (on offer at tesco) and some sweeties. I've spent about £10 I think.

Ragwort - yes, at the first drop of sodding rain, out comes the bloody umbrellas. It drives me insane! They're always asking to use the umbrellas. My DDs are 9 and 6 though, so a bit older.

you can get really cute presents from a shop called myriad in the small gifts section a bit pricey but always favourites

HappyMummyOfOne · 13/10/2013 21:35

Smoked, am sure the sweetshop at our outlet centre has different coloured candy canes. Have definately seen them recently somewhere and can only think of it being there. It sells lots of american bits.

If you dont have any joy with your brother and hamleys pm me and i'll look for you.

smokedmakerel BHS did a pack of different coloured candy canes last year. They were jelly belly ones in a variety of flavours. Might be worth a look.

Thanks happy mummy and Fluffy :)

must fit in a stocking and each item cheap like less than £5

DD is 4 it will include new comic, stickers, satsuma and chocolate, hair slides, bubbles, a heart shaped soap and bath bomb, possibly new play money

Little bits of mainly cheapy stuff that is silly fun. Toiletries/underwear is a given, and sweets/choc.

When they were little there was always something that Mum said was too faddy/expensive/shoddy but you REALLY wanted. This really made the santa magic for them when it started to fade a little- eg Mum didn't buy character underwear , but Santa brought it.... and the infamous " beyblade" the year that was they " in thing" was in the stocking because boring old Mum said " It's just a fad and far to expensive for a spinning top" LOL

dementedma · 14/10/2013 21:20

Pretty much as all other posters but with two dds in their 20s I add nice knickers/thongs,miniatures of Baileys, lush bathbomb, nail polish, lip balm etc
