Christmas treasure hunt?

Have DC aged 8 and 4 (she's 4 on Christmas Eve). Will also have my three siblings aged 5, 5 and 7.

We have a Christmas treasure hunt each year. The 8 and 7yo don't believe btw.

I have ran out of ideas. It always has to be different in a way, we on,y started it not long ago although my siblings were over the moon and at the time, because they all believed when it started, had great fun. I know they still do, but I don't because I just don't know what to do?

My ideas are:
They wake up and go to the tree/open presents like usual. They find a note under the tree- from Father Christmas. It says he was in so much of a rush, he must have dropped some of the presents that mum and dad had sent. He was very, very sorry and so were the reindeer- Rudolph had made them a bit late, which was why they'd been hurrying. He then says that there is one present addressed from him which should give them some tools to find the other presents, and that he hoped mum and dad (aka, US) would help. In the present are 99p gloves, 99p novelty socks and 99p hats, and another note saying that they'd need to wrap up warm.

Then what? I don't even know what to get for gifts. Have got them a reindeer chocolate lolly (80p) each, and they've also got a window crawler bug thing (it was 19p, I didn't realise stuff was that cheap!) and the obvious place for it is to be climbing the window. Also got a set of playing cards to share, and they've got a 99p stationery set each.

Anyone great at coming up with funny riddles, gifts and so on? So far have spent £5 each which is rather a lot, so was thinking of cheap stuff. They have three other presents (two are tiny ones, one is medium/kind of big) and hace a £4 stocking for them p, so can afford to spend quite a bit. Am looking at a mix of useful stuff and just tat...would a toothbrush and a Christmas soap thing work for the bathroom?

Am I just confusing myself?

It sounds like a lot of hard work for Christmas morning.

I love a christmas treasure hunt, it's fun!

The last one I did (which was for dp as dd1 was a tiny baby, but still) I decided where in the house I was hiding the presents and I took close up photos. For instance, of the rabbit's fur or the bathroom lino. I then left a letter from father christmas saying the naughty christmas goblins had stolen some presents, but he had found the following pictures of their facebook page, and they may give some clues as to where they've been.

This year, if it's not too snowy, I might do one for dd1 by tying the end of a ball of wool to a present and winding it round and round the garden sø she has to follow it to find the present.
