Doll's Pram for older girl

Help! Advice needed....DD1 (9) has decided she wants a doll's pram for her Christmas & I'm trying to work out which ones are the right size for older girls. Can anyone recommend anything?? Most doll's prams seem to be aimed at much younger girls.....don't older girls play with dolls anymore? Sad

She has mentioned the Silver Cross Surf pram but I think it might be a bit wee for her although it's hard to tell from the photos...

I think that pram will be quite small for her, have you considered a 'real' pram, maybe from gumtree or charity shop, my friend got her dd 9 a silver cross pram from a charity shop for about £20 last xmas, my dd is 10 and if shes playing with her dolls she uses a buggy out the loft that was her brothers.

In the Argos catalogue, the pram you mention has a handle height of 78cm which might be a bit short for her if she is tall.

Some of the real baby buggies have handle heights of 96cm, you could get a basic BabyStart umbrella buggy with no hood or recline for 19.99 in Argos which could be a travel system with a dolls car seat strapped to it; or pay 49.99 for a BabyStart (from birth, reclining, with hood) buggy which will last until she gives up dolls and could be sold on. Argos, Tesco and Asda sell cheap buggies. You could get a second hand Phil and Teds cocoon or similar to make it into a pram.

The dolls prams with the tallest handle heights are the M&P Graziella 91cm, Silver Cross sleepover 81cm, and Brio make a convertible pram/pushchair which is quite tall, look on Amazon. These are all for girls up to 10 and are expensive but you might get half the value back if sold on.

Hope this helps. I too think it's a shame that older girls are overlooked where dolls prams are concerned. I think you'll have to consult your DD about whether she would prefer a real baby buggy over a dolls one.

You could buy her a vintage silver cross pram ( sometimes they pop up on ebay ), they are a good size and it would be something she could keep when she's older ( to display a nice doll in or hand down to her children )?

Vintage Silver Cross prams sell on ebay for over £100!

I'm looking for a tall girl too - not much choice is there?

molding my DD has SEN and loved the John Lewis one earlier in thread. It's realistic enough to not be pretend and flexible enough for her to carry as many dolls (or dogs!) as she want Grin

My dd is ten and wanted a new buggy last year.
I bought her the twin buggy from Smyths.
Can't link as on my phone, sorry, but I'm 5ft4, and when I need to move it for hoovering etc, I barely need to bend.

It's £49.99, and both seats change so they can both face forwards, face 'parent', or face each other.
It's lovely Smile

On the Smyths website, the twin three wheel jogger and the M&P Excel pram have tall handle heights too.

That twin buggy looks good Whereisegg, like an icandy. Also one seat can be removed to convert to a single seater.

Whereisegg · 09/10/2013 13:28

Yes it's lovely, very sturdy and seats easy to switch.

It is called the Kate Tandem
pushchair and is quite iCandy like.

Might be worth seeing if you could source some iCandy stickers...?

We've got one of the Brio convertible doll prams. I can confirm that it is very big, I actually bought it for my 2 yo so it would last, but it is a bit too big for her Blush I can push it on its highest handle height without bending too much, and I am 5'5''.

This is the one but in a different colour, ours is dark purple www.amazon.co.uk/BRIO-90331-Doll-Combi-white/dp/B004RK7FH0/ref=sr_1_8?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1381325571&sr=1-8&keywords=brio+pram

I Got this hideous thing for dd using a 30 of 60 spend code I know she will love it royal wedding set

Code can be found on Christmas thread

IHeartKingThistle · 09/10/2013 17:57

Why can't I find a tall pram with swivel wheels? The buggies all have them but not the prams.

I can just about cope with the idea of dd doing laps of our house with a dolls pram, but not if she's hefting it round every corner!

MmmmWhiteWine · 10/10/2013 14:57

Thanks all for the recommendations...I'll check them out. Sorry to take so long to reply...been snowed uner with w*rk!
