Non-electronic presents for a 14 year old boy

He already has an Xbox, mobile phone etc and spends quite enough time on them as it is so I am looking for alternative ideas. He likes sport, clothes/trainers and typical teenage things. He has recently shown an interest in becoming a chef so I would like ideas for cooking related presents as well.

Thanks.

How about a red letter day voucher for something like drive a Ferrari or learn how to chef Thai food?

There are loads of things like that out there. DS2 was given one last Christmas, and he went to a master chocolatier and made about five boxes of really exquisite chocolates in an afternoon. It was amazing and he loved it.

Ooh that sounds interesting, will look into it, thanks!

if you have a costco card, I noticed they do experience days out (go karting, archery, driving etc) and they are about a 1/3 of the red letter day ones.

How about an under 17 driving lesson?

Whereisegg · 01/10/2013 19:49

Season ticket, tour of a stadium, cooking course at local college...

I bought day a Swiss army knife a couple of years back and he loved it.

What about a two man tent and some camping gear.
some basic fishing or golf gear
You could make up a cookery hamper with a good cookbook, equipment and gadgets. Tk Maxx always have nice bits in and you could do a food hamper with favourite foods in.
A new backpack from a brand he likes.

Is he at all musical? Guitar lessons?

Tickets to rugby or footie matches, or gigs?

Snow dome ski lessons?

What about searching local restaurants/artisan bakeries/farm type shops, perhaps online is easiest - to see if any offer cooking demonstrations/days.

Within 20 mins of us we have a fantastic pub that does cooking days/evenings, a bakery and an Italian restaurant that does same. They can be expensive but I've been on one myself and well worth it. The one I went on, which was further afield, held teenage cooking sessions in school holidays, such a fab idea. You might find things through web searching, or going into the nearest tourist board for your area, or public library or just by asking in a few foodie places.

There's three Good Food Shows between now and Christmas in Scotland, Birmingham and Olympia.

A wooden recipe book holder. Holds iPads too. So can cook and stir etc while looking at recipe. Dh loves the one I got us him.

If near London billingsgate do an amazing, but expensive and c early start, market tour and fish cooking lesson.

Dh has also loved his Lakeland electric meat slicer and his near tenderiser. Obv he's older than your ds but I think these are good boyish cookery themed gifts.

DS loves the dartboard he got given last birthday. Also a remote control helicopter - sounds silly but it flies so well!
