Oh for the love of God please just tell me which tablet I need?!

I've never used a tablet, dc have never used a tablet, I am clueless as is Dh.

I want to get them one each, ds is 7 and dd is 3. They don't have to be the same one.

They will 'need' them for watching movies, watching likes of iplayer, playing apps (educational and non) and searching net .

What should I buy? I'm thinking of the tesco hudl for ds? Can I do all the above on it? What about for dd? I don't think she'd like an innotab because she will want something that looks grown up like ds's.

Please someone just explain things as if I am a complete tablet novice and complete technophobic idiot, because, well, I am.

I don't want to spend much over £100 on ds and much much less if possible on dd.

Ps I've had advice already but I just don't understand.

My 7 year old got a samsung galaxy for her birthday, it was £149 but it is really good. She mastered it within a few hours and there is no credit card set up with the google play account so she is unable to purchase anything other than free games. I have added a memory card and put all her films onto it but you can't store apps on the memory card so she has to be more choosy about what she keeps.

I have an iPad and I almost bought her an ipad mini but decided that the extra £100 was better spend elsewhere and I haven't regretted it.

Would you all say a 7inch screen is big enough? Easy for little fingers without being fiddly?
The tablet conversation is one we've been having too.

I am 99% sure I'm going to get the tesco Hudl for ds and let dd have a go on the my one which I am also getting.

I was going to say the tesco one for kids too.

I have a nexus 7 (2013) and always let battery run down and have no issues... in the 3 weeks I've had it.

Bea - What have you decided to do. I'm looking at getting something for me, I just want something cheap I can leave in my bag/use in bed (easier than a laptop) and not worry about. I don't want to spend a lot on it as it's just a 'spare' not my main 'thing'.

I have had my nexus 7 for a year and am always letting the battery go completely flat and I just charge it up, never had an issue, I love it.

We are looking at kindle fire or the hudl for our kids, esp tempted by the hudl as I can use my tesco points towards it.
