60's to 70's.

I have three women who fall into this category. They are friends, not family and live far away so not that close that I know what they like to do for hobbies/fun etc.

Criteria - needs to be posted.

One recently had a birthday and I struggled and now Christmas is coming too.

Help please.

None of the above would be right for my mother who is 70 this year. She is a regular theatre goer, so tickets are out. Has plenty of scarves, gloves etc. not a big drinker, so not too fussed about wine. Is an ardent TK Maxx/designer sales fan so has loads of clothes and smellies.

Would laugh at a jigsaw.

Help.....her birthday is in a couple of months!

My co worker was 65 last week. She loves a nice coffee when she goes out shopping. I bought her a costa voucher. She was over the moon.

Mum heads to waitrose and gets her coffee there. Is a regular library user, so not fussed about books as gifts The woman has all bases covered.

Miss Strawberry, how about bottles of sparkling wine?

I happened to speak to one of the ladies today and listened carefully when she mentioned certain things so have some ideas now.

Whatever I buy has to be post-able and we live 300 miles apart so can't just pop in.

She liked what I got her for her birthday so that was good. Keep the ideas coming as I am sure each idea will help someone.

Crumpet, for the 70th since its special, could you book her a night in a posh hotel plus theatre ticket? Or maybe if budget lower, pay for lovely meal to have - maybe going with her? My friend is taking her mum to Ascot for her 70th...

For those saying vouchers are good how about one for a manicure ? I got an elderly aunt one for nails inc as the dept store near her has one of their counters. Its not the sort of thing she would spend her pension on but she loved it.

What about cinema vouchers ?

I second the manicure voucher too. I gave my DM one and she saved it until a special evening out and was thrilled with results.

For my Grandads 90th, we bought him a digital photo frame, and preloaded a memory card with lots of pictures of family and friends. He loved it, and has it switched on every day.

Further thoughts, my colleague had an organic veg box delivered at work yesterday, a thank you gift from her ds. She was really chuffed with it.

May not work for Christmas, but could do for birthdays.
