What to buy dd aged 10?

Dd likes Minecraft, her laptop, her 3ds, books (but not a kindle), dogs and cuddly toys. I've bought her Minecraft books and figures, I'll buy her some 3ds games and more books and cuddly toys even though we are overrun with both. I don't know what else to buy her though.
She's a young 10 even though she is almost eleven, not interested in clothes (unless they are character t shirts) bikes, skateboards or pogo sticks. I wouldn't buy her make up or nail polish. She's musical and likes singing but isn't interested in bands. She has said she'd like this but she has a dolls house and Sylvanian families houses that don't get played with all that much. She says it's because her Moxie and Barbie dolls would fit.
Any ideas please?

My dd10 likes monster high dolls
It's her birthday next week, I've got her a mirror, that is magnified on on side from tkmaxx.
A body warmer from primark.
She wants a new school bag, in the style of a satchel.
Then some little bits.

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 19:42

Ooh a satchel that's an idea as she likes her big sister's and she likes fleecy things so I'll go and get pyjamas from Primark Thanks

I feel like I keep posting this, but I'm getting my DD an easel, canvases and sketchbooks, watercolour pencils/paints, and one of those posable mannequins. The works is pretty cheap for all the supplies, and this weekend they have free delivery and a 20% off code.

Alongside this, so far we have a onesie, chill/ slushy cup thingymabob (apparently really good), a remote control colour in car that fits Barbie's, half price in very sale, and some headphones.

Oh, also picked up a mini suitcase/hatbox from TK Maxx, which I'm going to fill with a new mug, options sachets in lots of flavours, mini marshmallows, etc.

Dillydollydaydream · 27/09/2013 20:01

Having a similar problem with my dd also 10. She has a new bike, a kindle fire, kobo, ds already. She's not into music either yet. She's mentioned lego friends (!) but I'm not sure if she's a bit old.

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 20:06

Breakout can you link to the remote control car please? That is a good possible as she still likes her fashion dolls. Dd mentioned Lego Friends Dilly but she never much enjoyed Lego and it's expensive if it ends up being built and then put in a box.

Lego friends is really good. My dd10 loves it

As someone said up thread. An easel or a blackboard/whiteboard is used non stop in this house.
My dd wants to be a teacher and role plays with the whiteboard.
I like the idea of a hatbox filled with little bits.

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 27/09/2013 20:28

Not sure if this will work as I'm on mobile bu t here

RhondaJean · 27/09/2013 20:31

What about the monster high high school play set if shes looking for something that will fit her moxies etc it will fit them all.

Don't be in a rush for them to grow up!

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 20:40

Ooh the car is perfect Grin Dd finds Monster High dolls a bit scary so I don't think she'd like the school Rhonda. She's my baby my others are adults so I'm happy she's not ready to be grown up just yet.

Stuck with my almost 10 year old dd too, so far I have got her pokemon y (pre ordered) and a onsie, now I am stuck Sad, she doesn't really do girly things, just pokemon, minecraft and any large cuddly toys. I was going to get her the kindle fire but we already have a ipad and she has a 3ds, she doesn't really play with anything. Will be watching this thread for ideas.

RhondaJean · 27/09/2013 20:44

I know, my 9 yo loves my little pony (and monster high but her sister is a rock music fan so I reckon that's why she's not scared!)

I know you said no makeup or nail varnish but there are some nice hello kitty things around, dd got a hello kitty nail care set for her birthdays it's a little case with nail clippers and files and it's got some vsrnishes included too but I think it's lovely for little girls.

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 20:54

Marne dd has ASD too so I think it makes it even more difficult. Dd either collects (hence the huge number of books and cuddly toys and Moxie Dolls and Barbies) or she plays computer games.
I was thinking about a Pokemon onesie but she doesn't wear either of the two she has.
I'll look at the nail care set, I don't mind nail polish tbh it's more that she has a very generous big sister and so has access to a whole rainbow of nail polish that she only wears on high days and holidays.

Rhonda has your dd mentioned the MLP dolls? What does she think to them? I'm considering one of them for dd.

We have collections of various toys (none really get played with), pokemon figures (she wants more), gogo's, trash packs and 1000's of pokemon cards, she does love books but its hard to find the right ones.

Both dd's do like my little pony but they have quite a few, dd1 loves build a bear so I try and get the limited edition Christmas ones (which means me sitting up all night trying to get one online when they go on sale).

RhondaJean · 27/09/2013 21:10

Yes she loves them. She got two for her birthday and we have recently done the "if Santa can only bring one thing this year what would it be" and it's another mlp doll. I personally think they're rather freaky but if she is happy they won't do her any harm.

I spend too much on her but I love that the one thing that will make her Christmas costs £20 (it the celestia doll, others start from £13). I've decided I WON'T be buying her phones tablets etc until she asks for them even if it's what the other girls her age are getting.

Marne · 27/09/2013 21:11

I have bought dd2 (almost 8) a couple lego friends sets, I would say they are good for age 7-12 years (and theres a few on offer on Amazon at the moment).

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 21:37

Dd's ok with books, she likes and will read anything. She makes me laugh because she strokes them, smells them and hugs them as if they are real beings, that's why I won't buy her a Kindle as each book means something to her Confused I've bought every Minecraft book I can find as that's her current favourite.
Dd had a Moshi Monster membership gift card last year and enjoyed going on that site and she likes the National Geographic Animal Jam site so I might buy her membership for there this year.

RhondaJean · 27/09/2013 21:46

Oooh what about a subscription to the national geographic junior magazine?

Have you got the mine craft annual? It's 3.99 on the book people or 2 for £6 and there's a free delivery code somewhere on the bargains thread.

insanityscratching · 27/09/2013 22:26

Yes got that one saw the post earlier. The magazine subscription is a good idea Thanks I'll see if I can use Tesco vouchers for that I think.

OP posts:
RhondaJean · 27/09/2013 22:27

I think you can.

Takver · 28/09/2013 21:46

I'd check out NG Kids before going for it - you might find its a little young for a 10 year old.

I'm looking for a nice sewing box for dd (11), with the thought of putting bits for it (pincushion, thread etc) in her stocking.

iheartdusty · 28/09/2013 21:53

I keep posting this, but DS loves the Phoenix comic and so do I.
