With xmas getting close, how do you wrap your presents ?
Bows , ribbons, newspaper ?
Lets share our idea's here.

What a splendid phrase - love it

I will gladly join you for a but I found that wrapping them as they were bought / arrived made much more sense than hurriedly and drunkenly.

DH always says he will do it and he does try but I can't stand listening to him swearing at the sellotape so ended up doing it myself.

I get the Lakeland circle sticky things too for little presents. They don't hold thick paper down very well though.

I'm a swearer-atter!! Maybe I will do the normal thing and wrap from now, but! I don't know where to keep them once wrapped. I don't want the paper tearing etc

I always cover them in unexciting-looking carrier bags anyway but M&S paper is very robust and has lovely grids on the back to prevent rubbish cutting.

Christ, have just realised my new house is 25% smaller than the one we lived in last Christmas. I have no hiding places! I will have to rehome one of the children.

My house is tiny too, another reason I'm thinking drunk christmas eve wrapping might be the way forward so I don't have to hide them wrapped. They're currently hidden on top of the wardrobe; but unwrapped and strategically placed.

A couple of years ago I bought some brown paper bags (with twisted handles, so a tiny bit 'fancier' than just flat bag handles) and big Christmas stamps from notonthehighstreet.com. I decorated the bags (and made Christmas cards) using the stamps. I've still got brown bags left (had to buy in bulk!) so this year I've bought some red pom poms, wiggly eyes and brown pipe cleaners and I'm going to (attempt) to create reindeers something like this

Tip from my lovely mate who is in Recovery is to pull out the bottom drawer and hide stuff there. You can put the drawer back and there is space underneath. She'd hide bottles but it's ideal for lots of small things and stocking fillers.

I used crêpe paper one year: green with white polka dots and red with white pd's, Christmassy colours and the dots looked like snow. Tied up with string. They looked great and got a lot of comments for something so cheap and cheerful. Some friends re-used the paper for other things.

I have just bought 10m of red/white reindeer paper from Primark for tuppence hapenny for DS's gifts, he'll only be 2yo, so not needing anything incredibly cute like the snowman brown paper bags - might make them for my friends, though

Another tip for disguising small presents (whether necessary or not!):

Pop gift in a sandwich/ziplock bag, inflate, close, wrap. It'll make a satisfying rattling noise and receiver will be oblivious to the contents (Pez, earrings, plastic bangles, mp4, pendrive, toothbrush etc).

Where's pompom? I need to know how to wrap with double-sided paper so you can see both colours. I saw it once at Amsterdam airport and concentrated so hard, but forgot it by the time I got home. Any YouTube links? I'd love to do that this year.

I spend ages wrapping presents and really enjoy it. Last year I spent hours and hours watching Japanese YouTube videos of wrapping cylinders and wrapping at an angle which was very complicated but looked good.

So now I use double-sided tape, easier than normal tape anyway as it tears, and make little gift bags for awkward shaped items. If I wrap the item in tissue paper first, I have some little labels to stick it down, like in Bravissimo and La Senza.

I usually use brown paper and last year bought a stamp set to make the labels which took hours which were the luggage label type. Once I used plain red paper with red ribbons. I tend to keep it simple than go with patterns and embellishments.

I'll find some links tomorrow but be warned, they are very addictive (IMO).

I always used to put a lot of effort into wrapping (and love some of the ideas on here), but now by the time I've wrapped a whole bunch of kids presents in cheery wrap, I can't be bothered! I do try to make a bit of an effort with DH's though - good quality paper with nice ribbon.

I love Boots wrapping paper, they always have lovely designs and it's good quality too. Admittedly only started buying it because DH used to work for them (so got over 20% off) but he doesn't anymore and I still stick to it. Often stock up in january for the following Xmas, so I've got loads in my cupboard already.

This tape dispenser is completely awesome, I love it, saves me so much time.

I did buy some nice xmassy ribbon last year which I never got round to using.

attheendoftheday I saw a big plastic box for wrapping paper in Hobbycraft yesterday.

I bought 3 massive rolls of Santa patterned wrapping paper a few years ago in various colours, now every year the presents from Santa are wrapped in this, a different colour for each child, and to save messing about with tags/identifiable hand writing, each gift is labelled with a QR code (Santa's technology has improved over the years, it used to be a barcode!) which shows an aerial view of our house on Google Earth.

I just bought that dispenser fuzz thank you! I get it stuck everywhere usually!

I've done the double sided paper one before - you just wrap as normal, but before you stick down the seam, you fold it back on itself twice to make a little semi raised strip, then double sided tape under the strip and the join, you fold the end flaps so that they cover the strip - that way you just get the double sided paper look on the top.....

But (now I work in a craft store...) I will be mainly doing brown paper with folksy ribbons and raffia... maybe now with the addition of jingle bells..... ta for the ideas!!

We are starting to set out for Christmas now... and we get to have fun making "demonstration" items for the displays whilst it is quiet...

..... oh how I love my new job.......

I'll try again..... take the double sided paper..
put it face up
fold over a cm along one edge,
fold the edge over again and put some double sided tape underneath so you have a cm wide strip of the reverse showing all the way along one edge...
use that to wrap your present remembering the strip goes on the top...

The technique I saw at Amsterdam airport had the reverse side over one corner. I've googled and googled and can't find any pictures or videos that shows how to do it.

I've tried it before and can't make it looks as good as they do. Maybe I'm using the wrong paper.
