DD1 is 9, DD2 is 5

If your kids were to come down on Christmas morning and see a stocking (usual stocking size) and maybe 3 or 4 presents (one being a kindle fire) how would they react do you think?

If your kids receive money (sent to self from relatives, before Christmas) do you buy them something they would like to open on Christmas morning or just let them have the money?

can you tell I'm overthinking Christmas this year already

Mine would be shocked I think....mine are also 9 and 5 and they're used to a pile of about 20 plus gifts. not all of them are expensive...we don't buy much technology...they just love the unwrapping. If relatives give money I tell them what I will buy...usually what the DC want....and then wrap it for them.

I think mine would probably be shocked too tbh, DD1 would understand the cost etc but still be sad, DD2 wouldn't and would be craving the pink plasticyness of Barbie

So a stocking with presents in PLUS 3 or 4 others? I think that would be plenty. Dd is only three she would be extremely excited.

Oh and money goes into bank accounts for now. Once they're older they can have the money to do as they please with

With the money, if we are given any from family we usually choose something with it (something we wanted to get them anyway, as opposed to getting something else for the sake of it IYSWIM). I guess that will change as they grow (4&6) and get more ideas of what they want (ATM they are happy with surprises)

We've never got anything like a tablet for our DCs (we have an old family iPad that my friend handed down to us though, so they play on that) and I don't think I would for the next few years, as it would mean they got hardly any actual toys.

Have your DCs actually asked for a kindle fire? As if they hadn't I probably wouldn't buy one, not for the 5yo anyway, I would rather stick to toys and it would be more fun on Xmas day I think.

And if you're worried about the 5yo craving plastic I'm sure you could find her plenty that isn't tat :)

With the money, it depends on the age I think. My 16yo would want the money, but for the 11yo we usually buy something for him with it beforehand.

DD1 has asked for one yes, DD2 plays on my battered old tablet and phone as much as we.would allow her - she loves angry birds/colouring games etc....so i just thought instead of getting her an innotab/leappad that she will have grown out of (she will be 6 in march) quickly, she would get more use of a fire. Plus i have a faor whack of amazon vouchers here that would really cut the cost for me. Still unsure, will need to have a further think. Thanks for input Smile Thanks
