I'll carry on as I am thanks calopene.

SmokedMackerel · 23/09/2013 08:28

Not counting Dh and our own children...

14 adults

6 children

Nearly all of whom are close family, or God children. It seems like a lot, but I want to buy presents for my parents and siblings at Christmas.

attheendoftheday · 23/09/2013 08:29

5 adults, 8 children and a dog. That includes dp and I, and half the children will get a tiny token present.

flipchart · 23/09/2013 08:31

DH
2 boys

mum dad

13 friends
plus secret santa at work.

LoreleisSecret · 23/09/2013 08:59

Husband
Our 2 children
My parents
Step father
MIL
My sister
Godsons (both 2yo)
My boys closest cousin (3yo)

Ragwort · 23/09/2013 09:06

Very few Grin. In fact I realised I have enough stock of christmas wrapping paper to last until I die.

We buy for our DS.

I have four neices/nephews - they all get cash.

My parents, siblings and I agree not to exchange presents any more. (We go out for a nice meal or theatre trip).

DH and I usually agree to buy something together for the house or similar.

No ILs.

One friend that I buy a gift for.

Havin said that, I really, really love Christmas, but just not into the whole gift exchange thing - I can't bear all the wasted money and too much stuff. Grin.

How can anyone buy for 57 people - doesn't that mean you end up receiving 57 (or more) presents in your household, how can you store that volume of stuff?

MrsDavidBowie · 23/09/2013 09:09

3 people Grin
Dh, and two dcs.

I only get a gift from them ...no other presents.

Christmas is so EASY in our house.

we buy for,our 2 DC and each other

DM, DF, DMIL, DS, DB, DSIS IN LAW, DB IN LAW, 2 Nieces, 1 Nephew

1 aunt, 3 uncles, my cousins little girl

10 friends children, 1 couple

so 29 altogether, the top two rows are the more expensive gifts, the rest are token prezzies!

curiousgeorgie · 23/09/2013 11:43

Ragwort - it's harder and harder every year to store that much stuff! I've started to suggest secret santas among my 'baby friends' because it's just crazy.

We have a playroom though which is a godsend as I can usually find a space for the kids presents in there.

I have a really big family, 5 siblings and their wives and children, step parents, and see so much extended family on Christmas day at my mums that we can't really leave anyone out.

Marne · 23/09/2013 19:31

our 5 children
nephew
my cousins 3 kids
mum and her partner
dad and his partner
2 lots of grandparents

And that's about it Smile ,theres not many kids in our family (there will be when/if the 5 children have them), dh's family don't really bother with gifts so we don't bother, we spend more on our dc's as they don't get many gifts from other people. I'm quite pleased we don't need to buy for many.

sugarplumfairy · 23/09/2013 19:41

I buy for my 3 DC and my DH and that's it!

We agreed about 5 years ago to stop all present buying. The grandparents buy for the children also, so they do very well, as we are quite generous with them.

Present buying had got out of hand, so we stopped, I recommend it, I don't have to stress about what to buy any more.

muddymarvellousdarling · 23/09/2013 20:11

7 adults & 1 DC (family)

Then DH/Me/DC 11/16/22

I stopped giving to each friend DCs a few years ago as I was buying 10+ presents. So we all decided to just send cards and do a secret santa type thing by buying one present each and swapping. IYSWIM.

Small presents for Guide leaders/ DDs tutor & Drama staff.

everydayaschoolday · 23/09/2013 20:26

Heavens, 57!!!

We have:
7 adults + each other (2 x sets parents & our siblings & sibling partners)
8 kids (5 ours, 3 nieces/nephews)
3 token gifts for adults (DH ExW; teacher; TA)

18 all in, but the main ones are for the kids.

cooeeyonlyme · 23/09/2013 20:37

I only buy for my children and dp. I used to buy for everyone but it got ridiculous.

stiffstink · 23/09/2013 22:37

57? Madness!

On my side of the family we have a Not Secret Sant with the six adults. That means between DH and I, we buy 2. for our randomly selected recipients. It makes it harder because you can't do "couple" gifts!

On DH's side the deal is that if you have kids you don't get a present. Thats another 4 for those without kids.

Godchildren and DNs get gifts, as do our 2 grandparents.

Oh gosh, I've lost track! I will have to check my spreadsheet

ICanSeeTheSeaFromHere · 23/09/2013 23:12

3 DC's.
4 Nieces and Nephews.
6 Siblings and Sibling in laws.
4 Parents.
2 Grandparents.
3 'Family Gifts' Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
2 Teacher Gifts
4 Dogs (WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A PET!!!)

Plus DH and I... so 26 Humans and 4 Dogs!

sugarplumfairy · 24/09/2013 14:09

Hi cooeeyonlyme, you are on my wavelength, it does get ridiculous. I hope people don't think we are Scrooges!

I love Christmas, spend too much on my lot, they all still have stockings on their beds at 20, 17 & 13.

Ragwort · 24/09/2013 14:15

Those of you who buy for so many (57 Shock) - do you really enjoy all the choosing/spending etc etc? One of the saddest things I hear in the shops is people moaning about Christmas, only yesterday I heard someone saying, rather grumpily, 'that's two presents off my list, can't believe it's B**Y Christmas again'. Sad.

And why do people buy for dogs, if they don't even have a dog Confused.?

TheYamiOfYawn · 24/09/2013 14:26

14 Adults (DP, parents, step-parents, grandparents, my sister, 4 close friends). Most of those presents will be fairly cheap and home-made.

5 children (my DCs, niece and grandchildren).

We will get presents for DPs siblings if we see them over Christmas, but otherwise don't bother.

Marne · 24/09/2013 14:30

I think buying for 50 people is crazy, surely you don't need to buy for all the adults? my grandfather now only buys for his great grandchildren and has told the rest of the family that he cant afford and doesn't have the time to buy for all the adults, no body in the family minds this (why should they mind?). I don't expect anyone other than dh to buy anything for me for Christmas, I enjoy buying for the children and watching them open their presents, I don't need anything other than my family around me.

gamerchick · 24/09/2013 14:34

Buy for 5 give money to 4.
.
I would be tearing my hair out at 57 Grin
