Have you checked out Facebook? There are so many small businesses that are fabulous! If you join pages like "hike those likes marketplace" they can ask for you and businesses will reply with ideas. I have one called "sammi's glitzy bits" and my piggy banks are popular.

Good luck! Xx

This article for The Guardian has some stocking fillers for gamers suggestions and has asked readers to comment with their own suggestions.

Try Hawkins Bazaar and Firebox for gadgety things.
Waldo Pancake is a cool site for fun signs, key rings, notebooks etc,

cheekycherryza · 15/09/2013 12:28

Try Poundland too. They have some good bits like socks, hair accessories, cheap branded cosmetics, sweets, toblerones...

loubielou31 · 16/09/2013 16:42

My stockings always have a magazine in them, they can be varied according to the interests of the recipient.

Standard stuff is toothbrushes and paste, pants, smellies, and little toy or game something like top trumps, a magazine, sweets...

Dd1 (almost 10, aspergers and tom boy) will be getting a Percy Jackson book, big bang theory dvd, tooth brush, something minecraft (not sure what), chocolate coins and maybe some novelty socks.

Marne · 16/09/2013 18:32

Also you can get packs of pokemon cards and the small figures (we bought a lot on e-bay).

CherryMonster · 18/09/2013 12:32

thanks guys. right, to answer your posts, Sammi- yes i am on facebook, and am a small business myself. am familiar with hike those likes so will have a look. thanks

yes hawkins is good, i usually buy a few bits from there, they will have a comic/magazine each, they are not into pokemon cards just watching the shows and playing the computer games, not buying cosmetics for the girls quite yet although i might get some nail varnish, boys will have the standard tin of lynx etc.

This was what went in the stockings in our house last year:

Partner's stocking:
Band sweat band This kinda thing
Cheap DVD
Socks
Bottle of favourite ale

Brother's stocking:
New stocking
Pack of comic book protectors
Band t-shirt for local band
Bottle of favourite cider

Then both had:
Terry's chocolate orange
Chocolate coins
Sastuma
Candy canes

My stocking had (I think...my own presents didn't go on my spreadsheet so working from memory): kirby grips, lip balm, nail polish, top trumps cards, some fake snow thing, a necklace.

Other favourites for stockings here include:
Magazine/comic
Pack of badges
Keyrings
Headphones
Socks
Headbands
Cheap second hand CD's
Mini Lego things
Bubbles
Belt buckles
Hot chocolate sachets/those hot chocolate stirring spoon things
Mini bottles of JD/rum/etc (for adults only, obviously!)

Oo cherry I saw this dinosaur finger printing set in Magma the other day, just remembered when I was skimming the Lakeland website :)

hermioneweasley · 20/09/2013 13:13

Dotcomgiftshop have great things

Also pound shops

soontobeslendergirl · 21/09/2013 00:07

these guys:

www.qwertee.com/

do Gaming type t-shirts with unique designs that they only sell for 24 hours (48 really). I've ordered the Pokemon one for my son to put away for Christmas.

jojenk · 28/09/2013 22:49

I've used www.tickseed.co.uk for stocking fillers again and found some cheap secret santa stuff that's also Fairtrade (not that anyone in the office will appreciate it !). I love the cardboard Xmas trees to decorate but DS wants a real one. I told him if he waters it and clears up the needles and stops the dog eating the chocolates we will get one ............ who am I kidding ?

Asda had some cheap stationary and sweets as well so that's most of the stockings and halloween T or T stuff sorted.

Jo.

Think Geek is a brilliant website for teenagers although shipping and customs charges are expensive as it is US based but you can always use the site for ideas then track down cheaper equivalents in the UK
