www.inghams.co.uk/santa-holidays/meet-santa/

Just been looking at this, dd will be 4 during the last available visit... She (and I) would be beyond excited

It is scary ££, a real stretch tbh but what a great experience and wonderful memories to be made

Should we ?

Yes definitely! Look a bit further down as there was a thread about this last week. We went in dec for 4 days, it was simply the best holiday we've ever had and worth every penny! We went with thomsons. Not sure how much your inghams is or for how long but thomsons offered the cheapest 'Santa break' last year and prices are about £400 per person at the min for 3 nights from Manchester inc activities and clothes.

If you book longer trip for a week, do factor in the clothes and activities cost which add up quickly. The Santa break with thomsons also inc lunch on activity day and gala meal. I'd highly recommend saariselka, very remote, authentic and has a 1.5 km sledge run for the kids! It also has the best snow record.

The thomsons had a party flight, with kids singing down the intercom, staff drressed up, activity packs and santa hats for everyone etc. the gala meal had fireworks at the end...ah so good! i love thinking about it! Do book now though as prices rose loads last sept and most trips sold out in nov. last min deals were available, but generally for rovaniemi which had no snow for the first week or two!

4 is an ok age but dd was 5 and did struggle with cold and it wasn't even that bad for lapland -9. She is a bit of a whiner though so consider your own child's personality.

You'll love it! I want to go again next year :)

I posted on the other thread we always go with inghams but we have never booked with inghams as a special santa trip,we have always booked as a ski trip to lapland then added santa, reindeer, husky etc excursions on we have found this to be the cheaper option. Also I know a lot of people recommend booking early but last year we waited to November to book and the prices dropped significantly (silly prices before then and thought we wouldnt be able to afford it) and we got our cheapest deal yet £1000 for a week self catering including trips. If you book for any time in December you get a special gala dinner with santa included.

A lot other companies do the package deals but only include taster rides on reindeer etc then you have to pay £££ for anything worthwhile. If you go ahead i really recommend santa hideaway overr the santa village trip.

Go for it and push the boat out, we loved it and the beauty is, I have another child now who has yet to go so we are off soon again, happy days. The cold is very dry so we didn't find it a problem, -25 deg, we went for the bespoke break for the atmosphere, whilst booking skiing may be cheaper, it wouldn't be quite the same for me, the atmosphere on the flights etc etc, we didn't have to wait, and had the lot laid on. Magical.
It is expensive which is why, in my humble view, you need to get it right and don't scrimp.

keithydee - which operator did you book with? I am thinking of Emagine for Christmas 2014.

We went with www.magicoflapland.net/. Definitley not the cheapest but we were very keen to get it right. They have very small groups and we were very well looked after.

My DSs were 7 and just 4. The 4 year old really didn't like the cold very much and I think 4 is probably a bit too young - but every child is different. Our now 8 year old still talks about it now.
