I don't think you do, but now I'm starting to doubt myself.

before roasting you mean? I do - is that wrong?Confused

Furball · 24/12/2012 10:00

I do, I chuck em in with the potatoes for the last 3 or 4 mins of boiling (I do chunky ones though, skinny ones end up burnt to a crisp) and then roast them for about 45-50 mins.

YDdraigGoch · 24/12/2012 10:33

No, I don't.

MrsJREwing · 24/12/2012 10:36

I don't are they improved from parboiling first?

MrsMangoGingerbreadhouse · 24/12/2012 10:36

I don't, but Delia suggests you do, just before coating them, so the coating sticks. I prepped mine almost 2 weeks ago, coated them with flour, pepper and salt, bagged them and froze. I'll be defosting them tonight, adding a bit more flour, roasting from raw, and adding honey half way through.

Longdistance · 24/12/2012 10:39

I do, then put them in a dish, cover with honey, pop in oven to roast, and everyone is smacking their lips.....nom, nom, nom....

melliebobs · 24/12/2012 10:41

Nope. Why would you want to boil some of the nutrients out?! Nah just stick I'm in the tray n drizzle with honey n roast. Works just fine

AngelGabrielWreakinHavoc · 24/12/2012 10:44

I do. I par boil them with the sweet potato before roasting and use the water which I parboiled them in for the gravy.

betterwhenthesunshines · 24/12/2012 10:46

If you don't parboil they go a bit harder, but a short parboil seems to soften them so they end up being a bit sweeter in the centres. Depend which you prefer - I will be parboiling.

ArthurandGeorge · 24/12/2012 12:56

No to parboiling parsnips. A nice long slow roast, honey and mustard. yummy yummy!

craftynclothy · 24/12/2012 13:08

No, but I don't parboil roasts either.

TalcAndTurnips · 24/12/2012 13:10

Parboiling your Parsnips just has to be a euphemism.

If it wasn't before, it is now.

(not sure what for, but it sounds very rood)

AppleOgies · 24/12/2012 13:41

I do... They're chucked in with the potatoes.

WorkingtoohardMama · 24/12/2012 13:49

I steam mine in the microwave for 5-6 minutes, always turn out lovely

MrsJREwing · 24/12/2012 18:13

I am going to parboil my parsnips, and see what all the fuss is about.

FraterculaArctica · 24/12/2012 18:19

I do. 5 mins or so, means they are actually nice and soft in the middle after roasting, not all woody.

LaVitaBellissima · 24/12/2012 18:48

I do along with carrots, mine are already done and are in the freezer, all part of my 1 item a day prep. Very easy to organise tomorrow Xmas Grin caraway seeds and a bit of maple syrup and they go straight in the oven.

Taffeta · 24/12/2012 21:02

Just done mine - Delia recipe again parboil 3 mins then whilst steaming roll in a parmesan flour mix and lay out on tray overnight. Cover and then turn in hot oil on hob before roasting tomorrow.

FestiveOrganisoid · 24/12/2012 21:12

I don't. My mum does. We dispute it every Christmas Grin

hugoagogo · 24/12/2012 21:25

I'm off to parboil dh's parsnip right now. Xmas Wink
