What do you do to wear the kids out on xmas eve. Got kids that need exercise so am thinking a wacky type hour so adults can also get in the spirit! Any other ideas?

Splash time at our local pool! We are taking the DC at 2pm for swimming antics. Girls love it, DS is 1 and swimming totally exhausts him for the next 2 days. Also there are rapids and a wave machine that the DDs 7 and 8 love. Hopefully I can pretty much guarantee that at 9 8 they will be tucked up in bed sleeping soundly enough for me to be able to carry out santas duties while DP lies on the sofa watching the xmas specials Grin

Softplay, preferably one where you don't have to sit in the same room as them and they have decent coffee and wifi.

Iceskating would be great depending on age?

what's going on near where you live? We about a 40m drive from stockeld park and we love the winter wonderland walk, rthere's other stuff too so festive and exhausting if you keep them on the move!

BeaWheesht · 22/12/2012 00:08

A walk along the beach. I avoid soft play because mine always end up I'll after going! That said, they manage that quite often generally!

This year dd (2) has had a horrendous chest infection so if it's a damp very cold day I'm not sure a beach walk will be a great idea so will have to do dancing or something?!

Hoping ds (6) will be worn out because he has not sat down or stopped talking for at least 3 weeks!!! Also it's his birthday tomorrow so that might wear him out. of course this is bollocks he will be unable to sleep Xmas eve then up at 3am Xmas day

We dis soft play one year, it was surprisingly quiet. Might see if dp is up for swimming. Whatever we do its got to be in the morning. We have the christingle service at 3. Nothing seems to wear out ds who is 5. He looked so tired last night, went to be at 7.30 but was stil/ up at 6!

I took DS to soft play on Christmas Eve one year and it was empty apart from us.

This year we are waiting in for Granny (she lives 270 miles away). She is more exiting than Father Christmas. I've got no hope of getting the DC to bed before midnight I don't think.

Always a long walk on Christmas eve morning come rain or shine....it's the law.
Never had any problem with the DCs not sleeping.

MERLYPUSS · 22/12/2012 19:38

DT2 will be awake at a sparrow's fart. DT1 would like to sleep in but DT2 wakes him by calling from his room and doing 200 loo trips.
We have OH's work party so, in theory, they should be knackered. But DT2 NEVER knackers. EVER.

We usually do a walk or go to the park.
(Mine are 10.6 and 13 now).
Feeding ducks, feeding reindeer, outdoor visitors centre ( anywhere without loose dogs running round)

Last year we went to the park (DD was 'safety in numbers ' WRT dogs)

This year DH is working so the DC and I are going to see that Guardians something film and do some retail therapy (my DS might buy me a present but his wallet never sees daylight)
