Can anyone help with christmas gravy ideas- my mum makes an awesome one but uses bones from turkey, which means the turkey is cold when we eat which I don't really want if I can help it. I am a bisto kind of girl and have no real clues as to how to make it but want to make a very special gravy for christmas dinner. Any ideas/ links to a tried and tested?
Thanks Grin

We currently have Jamie Oliver's Get-Ahead Gravy on the hob. It's really yum and smells amazing!

Use the neck and giblets to make the gravy and it can be cooked and done before the turkeys out.

Neck and giblets carrots onion celery (chicken stock cube optional) and water if u like wine you could add that also and seasoning then add this too the meat juices lots of flavour.

Hmm I have bought a crown as there is only us and dd's so I'm guessing it doesn't have a neck or giblets. Hmm.... Anything I can do as a substitute?? Will the meat justice not make the gravy a little greasy as it will have the fat in or do I take this out?

Oh crud you can use chicken wings I u have some and you remove most of the visable fat and add a tablespoon of flour.

If not use shop bought stock and make in the same way..

But keep the turkey leftovers to make a stock and freeze it for next time.

Another vote for Jamie's get ahead. Although his other gravy advise using wine this get ahead one doesn't. Confusing

I did Jamie's gravy last year and it was great, made another lot last week. I'll be making stock for the freezer out of the giblets and bones, don't want to waste them.
