Special Christmas breakfast without egg?

I am looking for something nice to have for breakfast on Christmas Day along the lines of croissant/brioche/pancakes etc. But they all seem to have egg in which DS1 is allergic to.

Anyone got ideas for alternatives?

We're in a similar situation - DD2 is allergic to egg & dairy, and as I'm still breastfeeding her, I can't eat them either.

What we've decided on (may not be a huge help to you, as we're in NZ and it's summer here), is to do 'early breakfast' as usual (porridge/toast etc) and then do brunch which will be platters of fruit, crackers, dips etc on the beach

Maybe you could do something like that? A big platter of fruit?

Another idea - I've found that most brands of ready made pastry have no egg (and sometimes no dairy) in them. You could improvise your own pastries? Make up various fillings yourself and fold them into little triangles?

Thick hot toast spread with salty butter and Nutella, but from other threads I thought most children just ate chocolate for Christmas morning breakfast!

Fruit platter, nice cold meats, lovely breads

If you can find an egg free ready made pastry you can make homemade chocolate croissants with some dark chocolate in th emiddle

I know Jus-rol do ready made puff, but also rolls of croissant pastry, and a box of similar pastry with chocolate sticks to make pain au choc. I don't have the box to hand (it's at home, I'm at work), but that may be an option?

Thanks. Some lovely ideas but we are vegetarian so no meat, DS1 is also allergic to nuts so Nutella is out, and I'm not sure he would be too impressed with fruit as a "special" breakfast Grin

I will have a look at the JusRol pastry, DH, DS2 and I will have croissants but don't want DS1 to feel left out. Perhaps I'll just get some Coco Pops and be done with it Grin

You can get other kind of choc spread that don't have nuts in it - I think Cadbury's might do one, and possibly Panda? If the nutella type idea was of interest.

Could you get edible glitter to sprinkle on hot toast with lovely jam (I'm thinking a rich strawberry jam with lots of real large fruits in it)?

Or perhaps their choice from a Kelloggs selection pack (maybe Santa might leave that if Mum and Dad normally don't allow those types of cereals)?

I used to do a big fruit salad to have along with croissant/bread rolls. It did take a while to do (and cost quite lot) but could be done the night before
