I am having a drinks party on Friday. What food would you do? Thanks :)

One thing I always do is little sausages in pickle, they are delicious, very easy and you can get them ready in the morning.

Just cook little sausages in the oven with a jar of onion pickle, i use m and s, smothered over them, for about 45 mins.
Do lots and lots as they are very very moorish.

Definitely agree with the sausages! Also blinis with smoked salmon & creme fraiche, mini oatcakes with pate & chutney and little pastry cases heated with brie and cranberry. Mini mince pies and/or little chunks of rocky road if you want something sweet.

The sausages sound yummy. Would Branston pickle do the same job, and do you serve them hot or cold
Thank you

If you're also serving coffee with sweet things do these biscotti

They are LOVELY and turn out really professional-looking. Also you can make them ages in advance and just store in airtight jars.

Sorry about my half post yesterday! I thought I'd deleted it, but obviously pressed "post"

It was my DH's "ironic 1970s" nibbles- a cheese and pineapple hedgehogHmm and celery with primella cheese. He insisted offered to made them last time we had a drinks party. I was almost mortified but thought, well it's his party too. They went down a treat! But you can understand why I was undecided whether or not to mention them!

I've never tried the sausages with branston wildthong but I think they would work. They are delicious hot but they are also delicious cold, so do whichever suits.

Imflabulous · 20/12/2012 16:54

i always do coacktail sausages with honey and whole grain mustard and they always go down a treat and very very morish. I also cheat and buy ready cooked sausages so all you need to do is smother them and chuck in oven for 20 mins (its easy if your doing other nibbles with more effort needed).

Peppardews stuffed with cream cheese are a favourite here (they are mini peppers that come in jars, either mild of spicy).

WildThongonthesparklytree · 21/12/2012 09:48

Some great ideas on here, keep them coming!

crikeybadger · 21/12/2012 18:39

Lots more idea on the bbc good food website here.

I've also just made a batch of Nigella's cheese stars which were delicious.

slartybartfast · 22/12/2012 08:07

my dd has been looking through that website

wants to make some canapes.

i have bought feta, mozarella, pine nuts.

any other suggestions easier

Thin slices of brown bread (or wholemeal cracker or scones) with sliced avocado, smoked salmon, and lemon wedges. Easy and addictive.
