We normally see lots of family over Christmas, but this year on Christmas Day and Boxing Day it will just be the four of us (me, dh, dd 6years and dd 3years).

What can we do on boxing day to make it special?

Do you have any traditions?

We'll just be hanging out. Kids (7 and 2) playing with new toys.

I'll have a go at insisting we all go out for a lovely walk down the beach. We'll faff about until I think 'Ooh, it's almost time for a glass of wine'.

We head up North on the 27th.

Relaxing, eating chocolates, drinking wine and watching TV. Plus bouts of tidying and cleaning probably. Bah to the cleaning. Emptying and loading the dishwasher several times.
A little walk would be nice but nothing strenuous.
Playing board games with the kids - big and small - is a nice way to spend some time, we usually buy a new game each year - last year it was a marble run, this year it might be a game I won at the school fair, but I need some weird batteries first.

We'll go for a walk and to visit nearby relatives. Also heading up North on the 27th.

Cinema?
Panto?
Walk in the woods with a flask and mince pies?

Relaxing and nursing a slight hangover dh always works boxing night so I will have an early night ready to carry on the festivities when we go to Wales on 27th to see the family Grin

That's the kind of stuff I had in mind, think dh is worried about being stuck in the house for two days with over excited dd's and mess everywhere (ocd!!) will have to plan in a walk somewhere Smile

Step children come over so its a 2nd christmas day, presents, a buffet followed by chilling infront of the tv.

AlohaMama · 19/12/2012 17:22

Definitely walk. We always bring a flask of mulled wine or winter pimms to make it festive. You could bring hot choc for the kids.

TunaPastaBake · 19/12/2012 17:24

Walking dogs and headed off for a pub for lunch - pub booked months ago.

babooshkadoll · 19/12/2012 17:43

Big walk in am.
Nice lunch whatever you like to eat.
Family movie
DH usually makes the DCs tea
While I do a bit of online sale shopping or try out the beauty products I got from Santa.
Then maybe a board game .
Once DCs in bed we settle down with nibbles and wine.
Either a film or start a box set.
(Would love to be doing all of the above but this year we are all going to the in-laws and since I am driving not even a little wine to dull the pain.)

wordfactory · 19/12/2012 19:39

Full cooked breakfast.
Looooooong walk.
Buffet lunch.
Feet up and telly Grin

nappydaysagain · 19/12/2012 19:47

Walk to my mums and have a turkey caserole, jacket potatoes and bubble and squeak lunch then go to the panto in the evening

serin · 19/12/2012 21:01

Kayaking (if the water isn't frozen)

fuzzpig · 19/12/2012 22:17

As little as possible probably. Playing with new toys and games and watching new DVDs!
