SIL already had surgery & due for more just after Xmas. What to get her for Xmas that isn't going to make her cry but will make her feel a little more human?

Kindle? I imagine there's a lot of waiting aroud for appointments.

Is she well enough for a spa day or a nice hamper of goodies such as bubble bath, moisturiser, hand cream, lip salve etc.
books are good or a magazine membership.

Thanks for the ideas. She's not really one for reading a lot & she's not really well enough to do a spa day. We would normally get something like a box set of dvd's or music. But no bright ideas as to what this year though! Just so afraid of upsetting her with something too different or too similar to what we'd normally get. Maybe I'm just overthinking it :-S

I got my mil a furry covered wheat filled bag that you zap in the microwave, like a posh hot water bottle, cos we were told the chemo might make her feel cold etc. She really liked it.

ClairesTravellingCircus · 14/12/2012 16:20

A nice hand cream is an idea too. I got horribly dry skin with chemo.

Some good ideas there! Just a thought, is it possible to use iTunes vouchers to pay for games on an iPhone? She is rather find of her iPhone & her Xbox (the Xbox she won't be able to use for months now while staying with her parents). Might give her something fun to do wherever she is! would that work?

don't know how xbox credit works, but iTunes credit can also be used for apps as well as books, videos, music etc

pugsandseals · 14/12/2012 16:50

Thanks redwarf! That sounds like it might be the best idea so she can then treat herself to whatever she fancies - thank you!

a friend was recommended this shampoo a Philip Kingsley one - I think he developed it specifically as his wife had treatment...that could be a nice treat...she also really liked cashmere bed socks and a snuggly dressing gown as got cold
