Something for SIL, £20, but expensive for what it is IYSWIM

So I want to get her something she wouldn't buy herself, something that with 20 quid I can get a top of the range thing.

So for example, if she were into wine, £20 would be a great budget, but she's not a drinker really.

She doesn't wear a lot of make up, or else that would be an option (she's naturally stunning without!)

any ideas?

These are beautiful.

They're something a bit different, and I know they look good in real life as I bought them as leaving gifts in the past when I've been left in charge of the collections. I've never ventured away from purple ones though..The first one I ever ordered was purple, after that I just stuck with what I knew.

I suppose it IS expensive for socks but pretty!

Is she a reader? The folio society have gorgeous illustrated and cloth bound books for various price, I bought db a copy of animal far (his favourite book)

I love neals yard moisturiser, its the best in the world, and l'occtaine hand cream is gorgeous.

A mini Diptyque candle would be a lovely treat, or Clarins hand cream?

ParsleyTheLioness · 12/12/2012 18:21

Wolford tights? Lots of MNers rave about them.

midnightinmoscow · 12/12/2012 18:44

these cashmere gloves look good.

Agree with Skandi, Aromatherapy Associates are devine. this looks nice

Otherwise, other random things that I would like but wouldn't buy for myself would be:

A passport cover here

A lovely cheeseboard here

As you say, the 'best' of an every day item. Cashmere socks, hand cream, lip balm, shower gel etc.

oh thank you thank you!

Sorry for delayed response - I've been ill. I'll be back tonight to choose something for her!

Some great ideas on the Christmas bargain thread, have a little look there too.

She is a young and cool (but a bit skint) SIL. I don't think she's into cooking much.

She does like her knitwear, so cashmere could be good. But does it look a bit dull?

A beautiful (small) purse could be good. I just remembered I've bought beautiful soft leather purses from Ollie and Nic before, but there's nothing suitable at the moment...

I think fancy lip balm or something could do it. But I'll just go and have a quick shufty on the bargains thread.

Folksy is a good place for interesting and cool gifts - all handmade and UK based www.folksy.co.uk phone case, small going out type bag, scarves, cool knitwear for winter - gloves, scarves hat things - or crochet is very in at the moment
