Bit of an odd one here.

Going to the parents for Christmas lunch and have asked to contribute something towards. Parents are having none of it but have said Gravy just to shut me up :)

Any recommend some really nice Gravy?

Make it! Jamie Oliver's chicken wing gravy is easy peasy and lovely.

You know those little balls of cheese you get in flavoured oils? One of those melted into gravy is delicious

I find people can be fussy about fancy gravy, so I'd be tempted to make a standard one but take some fancy condiments for those who want them.

TobyLerone · 09/12/2012 12:07

This is the Jamie one.

Without a doubt the Jamie Oliver recipe. So easy (if I can make it it must be!) and you can make it a week in advance and shove in the freezer.

That JO gravy looks fab. I'm going to do that this year.

If you don't fancy making it yourself, i would recommend M&s's fresh turkey gravy, comes in pouches. Need to check the use by dates as oddly they often have some that expires before Christmas day. Also be sure to buy enough, I think each sachet serves 3ish so may need several. I decant all into one big pan and just heat gently. Tastes as good, if not better than my homemade but far less stressful. ('tis expensive though if serving lots)

Ohh thanks everyone. :)

Ill check out the Jamie oliver one and also M&S.

Ideally you should make the gravy there using the juices of the meat they are cooking.

Nicest gravy is home made obviously.

How about you make or buy some nice sauces and jellies too, cranberry jelly, caramelised onion chutney etc.

OhCobblers · 09/12/2012 19:38

Just to say that jamie recommends pouring juices from the turkey once cooked into the already made gravy when it's warming through!

TobyLerone · 09/12/2012 19:38

It's all there, in the recipe :)
